Ashely was an excellent, communicative, and thoughtful dog-sitter. She watched my pup in early August for a few days. I appreciated how she initiated both an initial phone call and a time to come over to learn about my dog's needs before I left on my trip. Thanks to her daily pictures and updates I could relax and enjoy my trip. I returned to a clean place and a happy dog. I definitely recommend her.
I felt like a part of the family, got some chocolate and snacks as a gift and we communicated well the whole time of my stay. House is big and spacious very close to the tram line and it was easy to get everywhere. Cat was first scared but then I think we had a good bond. Thank you for this stay!
I don’t know where to start with this amazing- once-in-a-lifetime experience! Nira and Andy are Mr and Mrs. Mara and Kenya! They have an incredible love for Kenya, wildlife/Masai Mara and tourism. Originally, they were going to pick me up at the airport and then I had a flight delay so they sent their driver who was at the entrance and welcomed me as soon as I walked out. Then I walked into their home - and the energy they put out - I felt like I walked into a friend’s home! I instantly felt comfortable and felt at home - no stranger awkwardness. Also - when you walk in the front door, you are gifted with a magnificent view of the Nairobi National Park. I took the view in - and then went into my guest room and private bath (their apartment is gorgeous). I got settled and they offered coffee, lunch, and a walk through. Then I properly met the queen of the house and neighborhood - Boko! She joined us in the balcony - because she likes to be part of the family chats - especially if it concerns her and her well-being for the next few days! Then 5 PM rolled around and I was greeted with giraffes few feet from their balcony. About Boko - she is such a cute, sweet and polite little lady! She is vocal about what she wants so she’s easy. She cries bloody murder early in the AM for her breakfast, she eats (literally) two bites and relaxes for an hour or two. Then, she will sit by the door politely and if don’t take notice, she’ll meow to be let out. Those early morning wake up calls from Boko meant I was able to see animals in the AM and a glorious sunrise over the park. She then comes back inside after and hour or so, and sleeps or likes to manage household affairs - like keeping an eye on the balcony for any birds, monkeys or insects! She also likes to go to the roof with her bff: her part-time housekeeper - and hang the clothes up! She then takes a long nap! She is half dog or dog in a previous life - she has so many “dog qualities!” She’s a special one - totally spoiled by her purrents but I totally get why because she got to me, too! She cuddled with me the first night and then would sporadically cuddle some nights. I fell in love with her and her sweet character! The neighborhood - there are produce vendors who are lined up along the road - with exotic (it is to westerners) fruits and vegetables. There is a canteen and small shops nearby and a coconut man who cut up fresh coconut! And the view…. It took my breath away everyday when when I didn’t see animals! It’s amazing there is a massive wildlife national park in the middle of a metropolitan city! Nairobi is such a fantastic city and Nira made sure I had the right instructions and guardrails to safely navigate the city! She was sure to share her favorite jaunts and places for me to enjoy! The Couple - omg - Nira and Andy are such a wonderful, lovely, charismatic, talented and kind couple! They are so welcoming…. I don’t know if we just hit it off or they behave with this much warmth and openness with everyone - I think the latter. I shared with them where I was staying for my Mara trip (I didn’t do the best planning - very rushed) and it wasn’t the best place for the Mara experience. Before they left for their flight - they made some calls and helped me book a stunning place for my safari. They’re in the business (the best in the business) so they really do know the ins and outs of Mara and their effort in making sure I had a great time while they’re headed to an international trip was extremely kind and greatly appreciated. They also allowed me to leave my large luggage at their place while I packed small for the Mara visit and personally dropped me up at the Wilson airport for my safari trip. I can go on and on about their generosity and warmth! They’re my friends and they’re welcome to visit me in the US anytime… but they work too hard! Nira, Andy and Boko - If it weren’t for you, not sure when I would make it to east Africa and have this trip that rewired my brain! I know I said Boko is special… but you two are also special human beings! Happy new year - you guys will do great things! I am so grateful to meet such wonderful people and a sweet cat! 💙
A really great sit. Fiona and Adrian are very welcoming and friendly, and Sala is the sweetest of dogs! Communication was excellent at all times, and they showed me around as well as leaving a guide to the house. The house is magnificent: spacious, clean, well-organised and clearly well-loved too. I was very comfortable and lacked for nothing. It was great having the cleaning service every Monday - a real bonus! The setting is ideal too: woods and fields and creekside pathways - so many places to go for a walk without even leaving the estate. The neighbours were friendly too - I met several other dogs and their owners, and everyone offered help if needed. Sala is a dear little dog who loves being around her humans. She is very easy to care for, loving her walks and especially loving chasing after sticks, apples and pine cones! We had some good walks on the Downs and by the sea too. She does get a bit anxious when left alone, but this is offset by the tremendous welcome you get when you return! :-) I have no hesitation in recommending this sit to anyone who loves being out in the beautiful West Sussex country.
This is easily one of my favorite sits. Mike and Celeste were very kind and welcoming into their gorgeous, immaculate home. They asked that I arrive the night before their early morning departure in order to show me around, review the written instructions and introduce me to Ruby. I had a comfortable stay in a guest room with its own bathroom. Prior to my arrival, they asked what my favorite foods are and provided me with a very generous food basket and more. Ruby is truly a gem. Such a smart, affectionate and energetic pup. We had fun walking around neighborhood and a nearby park, and playing “soccer”and chasing the ball in their large backyard. I especially enjoyed breakfast with Ruby on the back deck and tea in the evenings on the front porch with her always by my side or lap. Ruby is Royal. I hope to see her again one day. Thank you Mike and Celeste for a glorious sit!
Lily and cricket (and Phyllis!) are wonderful, 2 of the most adorable and well behaved kitties we've ever seen. The house is in a great location a few minutes from downtown but with the view it feels like you're much farther out. Lots of great trails and things to see within walking distance as well. Would love to sit again
I loved staying at Julia and Matheus' place in Cascais. Aladin and Jazz are just so sweet. We had lots of fun taking long walks in the large green space along the river near the apartment. They are very affectionate, happy and easy to care for. Julia is great with communication and Matheus was nice enough to pick me up at the train station. The location is really good, walkable to the central part of town. On Saturday, there's an incredible farmer's market- the best I've seen so far in Portugal. I absolutely recommend this sit, if you have the opportunity.
