Brilliant weekend trip popping my head into Cheltenham, a corner of the country I hadn't yet checked out. Charlie lives really close to the centre, and he was accommodating in whipping out a map and pointing me in the direction of where I might fancy heading to/walking along. Lovely, cosy home which as I mentioned is in a great location - you'll see plenty of the Georgian architecture. Rueben absolutely loves human contact, eagerly following me round the house and resting up next to me. You've got an affectionate companion there who takes no time at all to seek you out for cuddles. Treacle is more independent as Charlie had highlighted, but by the end of the weekend, he did begin coming to me more often to be petted and have attention heaped on him. Gorgeous, easy-going pair that I'd have really liked to have spent more time with. There's a couple of parks close to the house which Charlie took me through before he left. With Treacle's age he won't be at your heels for extended walks. Rueben's keen on getting a good run, so I made a point of taking getting him out solo along the old railway line and on into Pittville Park which has you coming through the city centre. I would definitely recommend that if you get the opportunity. Excellent sit, thoroughly recommended and one I'd look to revisit!!
We had a lovely time at Kirsty and Jacks' cosy farm house in Wiltshire. Lower Upam Farm has a long history and a wonderful large family who lives around to help out if required.Jack and Kirsty are a warm and friendly couple who made us very welcome in their home. Kirsty even cooked us a lovely meal on the first night before they left for their holidays. The menagerie does need bit of work but otherwise a pleasure to be around. The dogs Duke, Brie, Puffin and lovable Poppy enjoyed their long walks and playing ball.Duke is a big baby who loved cuddles, wants to get his own way and tries for all the attention. A little experience with larger dogs makes him easier to handle and obedient. Mother Brie and son Puffin walk around with a ball in their mouths and love to play. Though they do love cuddles and listen to you much more than Duke.Poppy is old but likes to join in the play if she feels like it. Otherwise she slowly follows you around and tries to keep up.The horses were a delight, so make sure you have lots of apples in your pockets. Here too, a bit of experience does help with the placing/removal of face masks needed for the flies.Lastly, there are the chickens and roosters... best bit are the lovely fresh eggs each day! Feeding and caring for them is easy, so too was gathering them in and out of their enclosure. I must say we had a wonderful time on our first sit and we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lower Upam Farm. Would love to stay again, anytime. Hans and Diana.
Our time in Drymen was amazing, largely due to the company of Dylan and Ziggy. These furry friends welcomed and were very friendly, even making it hard to say goodbye to them💔. The house is large, bright, clean, and beautifully maintained. Catriona was incredibly friendly and attentive, making our stay very enjoyable. Thank you, Catriona!
David and Laura were very welcoming, communicating with us regularly and providing us information and advice during our stay. Both Casper and Maizie were wonderful dogs to housesit, they were very affectionate and cuddly and our kids adored spending time with them. Ginger was very easy going, she kept to herself a bit but enjoyed some pats and attention each day. We were made to feel welcomed and at home while caring for their pets. We would definitely recommend the opportunity to housesit for David and Laura in the future.
I had a great time on my short housesit for Jay and Russ in Cheadle Hulme! Their cats, Alby & Bella, are gorgeous and enjoy playtime and climbing on the bed for cuddles in the mornings, and are very easy to care for. The house is comfortable with lots of amazing plants, close to shops and pubs as well as parks and woodland. They kindly picked me up at the train station and showed me around the house, and recommended some places to visit. We kept in touch over the weekend and everything went very smoothly. I definitely recommend this sit!
This was Naomi and Marty’s first THS experience and they did a great job making sure I had all the information I needed to take care of their cute pups, Ella and Millie, and feel comfortable in their home. I chose their housesit for its proximity to DC and ability to visit the city during the day without worrying about leaving the pups for hours at a time. Millie, Ella and I took long, rambling morning and afternoon walks in the really nice neighborhood of Tacoma Park. The 10+ mile long Sligo Creek path is just a short walk away and a great place to walk the dogs! There is a nice size, fenced-in back yard that the dogs have access to all day long, so leaving them for 3-5 (or more) hours a day wasn’t an issue since they are accustomed to that with their owners. I am a country girl, so becoming familiar with public transportation in the city took me a while to get comfortable with it. But it was really easy and convenient, access to the buses less than a block away from the house. Millie and Ella are very cute and friendly! Ella, being an elder, was a bit shy to begin with but had no trouble cozying up to me in bed with her sister the first night of my stay. Millie is ball crazy. As long as she’s playing ball she can happily be entertained for hours (I got really good at kicking the ball while exercising, cooking, reading, etc.)! All in all it was a great experience. The house is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is easy to navigate, and Naomi and Marty were conscientious hosts, providing all the information they could think of to make my stay pleasant! They also communicated well while they were away. Highly recommend staying at their home if access to the city is important but also enjoying the pretty, quieter urban setting of Tacoma Park.
