Windy and Dustin were such a great sitters, our cat and us loved to have them in our home. They were totally organised and careful with everything regarding our cat and also our home. They cared a lot for Roushka and provided us pictures and videos every day. Our cat loved them, she was sleeping and purring a lot while spending time with both Dustin and Windy. We were so calm in our vacation to know that our cat and home was in such good hands. They left the house very tidy and we found a sweet note from them for Roushka. We totally liked Windy and Dustin and we highly recommend them, we would love to have them again in the future.
Maisy and Leo were angels! Both were a pleasure to take care of and super easy. Maisy is the sweetest and will follow you into every room - even the bathroom! She will love you if you give her a few extra treats. Leo likes to do his own thing but will often come to you for belly rubs and he LOVES if you do it with the brush. As far as the space, Nicole has everything you need, in a good location and a very comfortable bed. Her building even has a rooftop and exercise room. She was easy to communicate with and overall I was happy to do the housesit :) Highly recommend
This sit is an opportunity to care for and enjoy the company of a sweet, playful, well-behaved Grenadian rescue dog, as well as a chance to intimately experience local, small town Grenadian life! Zelda is shy and standoffish at first, but gentle and just in need of a bit of space initially as she warms up. Within a week we had developed a great, trusting relationship - she was such an affectionate, fun, and easy going companion and pal. We had such a good time together and she often made me laugh with her expressive personality, curiosity, and quirks. She is an absolute gem of a pup and nearly 2 months together was so lovely - I adored her and definitely became attached! Barbara’s set up with a spacious and secure Veranda for Zelda (and you!), as well as a yard for Zelda to enjoy while you’re home and able to keep an eye on her, make for a great and straightforward sit. Zelda is well trained and sleeps in her crate at night, though I do recommend ensuring you practice recall with her early and often to ensure she comes from the yard for you when requested. Overlapping with Barbara before her departure for a few days was helpful for this and in Zelda’s adjustment to me.
Barbara was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and communicative. She was great at managing expectations and really set me up for success with lots of info, introductions to locals, and an awesome island, home, and Zelda guide that she prepared. We really hit it off from the get go and I felt immediately at home. The house is spacious for 1-2 people, an older but nice local build with a great layout. I had closet and dresser space in the guest room with 2 twin beds. The home is a unit above the owner, who is a lovely older man who made me feel so welcome and was always available to help, if needed. He was quick to offer cultural insights, extend invitations, and offer local food to try - it was amazing! His dog was very sweet to me, too, and gets along well with Zelda. It’s warm and humid, but you’ll cool off with fans throughout the home and by keeping screened windows open to let in the Caribbean breeze. The smart TV was great for Netflix, work outs, and more! The Google Home was great for music throughout the home or on the veranda. The wifi was decent, though I sometimes relied on my hotspot. Barbara had a great array of exercise equipment that I appreciated being able to use. There are small grocers, a fish market, and a few farmers selling produce in the local village/town and you’re very near to the Jouvay Chocolate Factory. There are amazing, lush jungle hikes and waterfalls nearby with very few tourists. I often went for walks in the early morning or evening while temperatures were a bit cooler, neighbors quickly begin to greet you like an old friend! You’re a 10-15 minute walk to the ocean (though it’s not always swimmable, some seasonality to the closest beach) and the same distance to shops, restaurants, and bus stops. I recommend trying Cocoa Pod and Emelda’s Corner in Victoria, as well as Kelly’s Hot Spot in Gouyave. Victoria also has a monthly Food Fest and nearby Gouyave a weekly Fish Fry Friday! If you’re looking for more extensive, imported grocery options, you’ll take a bus about an hour into town (St. George’s) - I’d recommend trying to stock up on frozen and/or non-perishable goods at the onset of a sit and bring back via taxi/car, then get produce and other goods as needed when you choose to venture into the main part of the island. I went every 1-2 weeks to scuba dive, enjoy Grand Anse or BBC Beach, and have lunch at a local restaurant. There are local/nearby resorts (Mount Edgecombe and Petit Anse) you can buy a day pass for as well if you don't want to venture as far south, but want a bit of luxury, spa, a meal, and beach/pool access! It's important to note that the public bus schedule can be a bit limiting as it ends around 7pm daily (and no buses on Sundays) and it's recommended to catch a bus well before then to ensure the last bus doesn't fill up before you make it on. Personally, I found this sit absolutely wonderful - relaxing, enjoyable, and an unforgettable experience! You'll be away from much of the tourism, modern conveniences, sun bathing beaches, etc., BUT for many that is a huge plus and it certainly was for me. If you’re a sitter(s) that’s excited and enthusiastic about finding culturally immersive experiences, this will be a fantastic fit! While there will occasionally be loud events, neighbors enjoying music, dogs barking (this is all part of the local culture and overall experience), I found this area to be incredible peaceful - often just the sound of the breeze, birds, and local goats/sheep. Locals in Victoria, St. Mark’s were incredibly warm and welcoming, and the connections I made while here (both thanks to Barbara’s introduction and due to my own efforts to connect with others), made for a special, supportive, and authentic experience. I felt safe as a solo female traveler in Victoria and Grenada as a whole, and especially secure in Barbara’s home. l absolutely would recommend this sit to others. I'll forever treasure my time in Grenada with Zelda!
Marsha and Bill's residence is situated in a phenomenal part of Vancouver. Right along the sea wall - you can't get more 'Vancouver' than this! Marsha made us feel very welcome and left plenty of information for us to feel confident and supported in our sit. Gus is extremely loving and will be your constant shadow. He has a funny personality and does LOVE his food. We will note that he has a very early feeding schedule and will wake you up for it - sometimes at 4 or 5 AM. Their home is comfortable and has everything you might need during your stay. Another note we'll leave is that this is a concrete building, so the wifi is very poor. There is almost no service on the second and third floor, and slow connection on the first floor. So if you plan on working from home, streaming movies, hosting video calls, working from online databases, this may not be the sit for you, as we found it incredibly challenging to do so ourselves. However, if you are simply looking to enjoy the home and surrounding walks with Gus, then this would be perfect for you! Finally, Marsha and Bill will tell you that there is no provided parking for you. And this is certainly the case. If you plan on driving in, I would not recommend this sit. It was a pain to find parking and caused some anxiety throughout our stay. However, if you plan to walk or use other forms of transportation, this won't impact your stay at all.
Getting the chance to meet these lovely two guys, Milo and Mano, was an incredible experience!. Milo, the younger lovely guy, was so playful and really enjoy cuddling and being over me. And Mano, a great future baseball player, although it takes longer for him to get closer to humans, he was kind of getting nearer along the days. I want to thank Sobia and Zain for this amazing sitting experience, I really hope I get the chance to see you guys again in the future. Wish you all the best for your future in Dublin. Thank you, Max.
