I would never have though that I would fall in Love with a Turtle named Georgie and an absolute Angel. As time progressed I began to understand his Pet Mama's fastidious requirements for preparing his vegan meals; bath times and spending time outside in his garden of eden. I arrived a few days early and ironically during that predicted hurricane along with an earthquake in Los Angeles. Somehow that was the beginning of a bonding with Emily. She was able to literally go through the steps of preparing Georgie's meals; the amount and the number for each day. Georgie is an endangered desert Tortoise and his parents live in a magnificent home and wildlife habitat in Brentwood. They have a Koi pond right under the window of the guest room and the soothing sound of the flowing water is like a fluid lullaby. The entire front and back yard are filled with all types of blooms, some for Georgie's culinary treats; caterpillars in their chrysalises; butterflies who Emily calls Hilary and all of her relatives; a myriad of insects and tree spirits offering their fruits. I found it interesting that the statues of Ganesh, an Indian diety representing the transmuting of blockages or obstacles and offering opportunities were present all around. In additon, there was a tree whose trunk appeared to have the feet of Ganesh. This is so magical which is how I would describe this natural habitat and caring for Georgie's and his siblings the Marine Angels. I loved giving Georgie smooches on the top of his head several times a day; stroking him under his neck; observing while he spent time in his bath; going outside onto the east balcony and trying to find a way through spaces between the fence. There was JOY in my heart when I came in through the front gate by his garden of eden and called out his name, to let him know I AM back. He often came out from a shaded area walking toward the entrance of his garden to greet me. Interesting, I never found where his ears were. This Pet Sit has taught me so much more about the respect for the animal kingdom or these Beings of Light who each teach us important lessons. Georgie taught me the gift of taking time and Being in the present, which is the Pinnacle of focusing on the Breath in all spiritual practices. This Pet Sit is for a person who will honor the care for Emily and John's Magical haven. However, they are within walking distance to cafés, grocery stores such as Bristol Farms and of course my favorite Erewhon. Once you discover this area you will enjoy the Pet Sit even more.
Loved Kevin! Great stay/sit. :)
Thank you Gay for a wonderful week in Arroyo Grande with the greatest duo Buddy and Charlie! Buddy is the cutest little guy and was so much fun to walk, run and hang out with. Charlie was the most low-key cat and so content to hang out in the room with us or in his lovely outdoor catio. They were very quick to being comfortable around us so we got to be friends from the start. Gay's house is amazing with wonderful sitting areas in the back and courtyard and amazing art is everywhere indoors and out. She was very organized and had everything labeled in the kitchen with a great welcome guide to help answer any questions that might come up during the week. The location is close to so many places, you can get almost anywhere in just a few miles. Having the beach two miles away was great and if you love trails check out the Pismo Preserve down the road. Gay had great recommendations of places to go, restaurants and anything else you would want in the Arroyo Grande area. Thank you Gay for trusting us with your home, Buddy and Charlie. I would definitely recommend this wonderful sit.
