We said goodbye to them last night and this morning feel strongly that we absolutely struck GOLD with this couple and they deserve 5 stars all the way! We'd had a couple booked through zeewoi for a two segment sit, but due to an unexpected death in the family, the original couple, who did complete our 1st segment of the sit, had to cancel the 2nd segment arrangement, much to my panic. So, my new post went up ASAP with not much hope on such short notice. Enter, Helen and Jim's application and our collective sigh of relief with their qualifications and willingness to help over Christmas 2019 into 2020's first 2 weeks, for our relatively last minute posting. They were extremely flexible and completely understood the needs of our 16.5 year old cat requiring twice a day meds and probiotics added to her food once a day. Our cat, Beanie, has intestinal and digestive issues as she ages with bouts of each occurring without warning! She is also on a custom home-made food diet in order to remedy her condition, but this is not a 100% guaranteed success story. Helen and Jim have visited Hawai'i several times, but never the Big Island, so we put them in touch with our repeat sitters from zeewoi, who could fully explain Beanie's neediness, us as HOs, our home and it's location and amenities, as well as the uniqueness of Kailua-Kona and the surrounding environment. They remained enthusiastic about the sit and promptly booked their flights in full consideration of our dates. They proved to be the perfect choice for us and for Beanie. Helen and Jim truly went above and beyond the basics of house-sitting/pet-sitting. Jim shopped for and replaced all of our smoke detectors, for reimbursement of course. (Shame on us for not tending to them before their arrival! Time just slipped away) The water filter in our refrigerator also needed to be replaced while they were here. They simply took over Beanie's kingdom confidently and thoroughly with all the maintenance to our home and kitty provided with very little issues popping up during their stay. Unfortunately, within hours of my departure, my Father suddenly passed away which required all of our attention. In spite of Beanie experiencing health issues at the same time, Helen was proactive in taking the reins with our Vet and handled everything very competently without disturbing us at all. This is what a homeowner truly appreciates while traveling. In short, we returned to a very happy Beanie, a meticulously clean and tidy home, home-made lasagna in the fridge, ready to bake for our first night's meal at home and fresh flowers on the kitchen counter. Our vehicle was immaculate and meeting us at the airport with cold bottled water was enormously thoughtful after that long trans-Pacific flight. The biggest bonus was, after two months in our "hood", they were equally as enthusiastic as when they'd first arrived back in November, 2019! We would unequivocally recommend and endorse Helen and Jim as the sitters of choice for us and for any Homeowners here on zeewoi. Without question, they bring a caring and genuine attitude of positivity to the role of Housesitters. Their qualifications and overall attributes were quite simply an addition to their great personalities. Our gratitude knows no bounds for having the good fortune of meeting Helen and Jim ~ Thank you for helping us in our last minute need !
Meera & Tiernan were excellent carers for our beloved Harley who definitely bonded well with them both over the week we were away . I could not have wished for nicer people to care for our labrador dog and home. Sincerely , Mark & Sarah
