Ray & Egor
I had a wonderful stay at Ray’s beautiful home! There were plenty of pans and utensils for cooking. Ray is a gracious host and always got right back with me if I had any questions. Ocean is the sweetest dog and was a great hiking partner when I wanted to explore the Natchez Trace hiking trails which are close by. She also made a great cuddle partner at night. 🥰 The cats, Freeman and Brother, were also great companions and had me laughing with their antics! The goats were easy to watch, but you may want to bring your mud boots in case of rain! I took full advantage of the large hot tub under the stars. Also, you’ll want to check out Pucketts’ of Leiper’s Fork for live music, which is only 15 miles away…so much fun! I highly recommend this house sit.

This was a truly special sit!

When we first saw Debi's sit and profile, we were very interested in her dog, the location, the house and of course, she and Michael. But we weren't sure we wanted to spend that much time in one location, since we were accustomed to moving around more frequently and getting back to see our kids and grandkids every few months. After weighing the pros and cons, as well as visiting them for a day during another housesit in Austin, we fell in love with Gemma, really enjoyed spending the day with Debi and Michael, getting a tour of the area, and learning about the house and what was expected - so we decided to commit - and are very happy we did!

Since we were already in Texas, we did a one week sit for Debi and Michael early in February and spent a few extra days with them to learn more about the house, Gemma and the area. Then we went back to Denver to see our family for 10 days before heading back to Wimberley for our long-term sit. This short sit was great, since it enabled us to figure out what things we wanted to bring with us and what to leave behind in Denver. It also allowed all of us to get to know each other!

Debi is the best when it comes to hosting housesitters. She is trusting, generous, accommodating, and easy to communicate with. When we had some water issues at the house, she very quickly put us in touch with the people we needed to do the bits that Rock was not able to do himself.

We can't say enough about how much we fell in love with Gemma. She truly became our dog for the time we were with her. We travel with our own 7-pound older Maltese who is mostly deaf and doesn't see much - Gemma was so sweet and gentle with him - like a mamma taking care of her pup! Gemma is very protective of her peeps and property, with a fierce bark and gentle personality. She absolutely loves her daily walks, a good bone to chew on and plenty of cuddle time. She doesn't love the car, but we took her to the Farmer's Market in San Marcos multiple times as well as other events - she loved the attention from all the people! A French Briard is not a common breed in the US, so when Gemma's with you, you can't help but meet lots of nice, interested people.

I love to cook and Rock loves to eat my cooking, so it was especially nice that Debi also loves to cook and has a very well stocked and appointed kitchen that’s easy to cook in! We had the good fortune to be treated to a dinner made by Michael and a couple of dinners made by Debi. And at the end of our first short sit, some of Debi’s sons came over with their families for a BBQ, so we got to meet them. They all made us feel so welcome and part of the family.

The house is a nice size – not too big or too small. The bedroom we chose to use has a queen bed with nightstands, a dresser and walk in closet – plenty of space for everything (3 seasons worth of clothes and shoes) plus an attached bathroom. For us, this was very important for such a long-term stay. There’s a nice big TV in the living room with all the streaming apps and channels you may want!

The yard is very large, with 5 raised beds in the back for growing whatever veggies or flowers you may want – or not. The squirrels, birds and geckoes out back are endlessly entertaining. There’s also the odd snake and interesting bugs. And the deer that come into the front yard to graze are plentiful – they wander around like dogs from yard to yard or down the street. We loved seeing them every day and ended up buying big bags of carrots to feed them – they’re so pretty and delicate and came right up to take them from our hands.

Going for daily walks in the neighborhood is great exercise – it is of course in hill country, so if you’re not in good shape when you arrive it won’t take long to get into shape! Plus, you get a wonderful nature fix every time you step outside of the house. There are plenty of places to sit and relax with your favorite beverage out back or on the front porch, either early in the morning or in the evening. With it being a dark sky community, you can be outside at night and enjoy the stars and moon.

You can be as busy or relaxed as you want to be. Wimberley is only a few miles drive from Debi’s house – it’s a small but vibrant town that has much to offer! Lots of breweries, wineries, and distilleries to visit if you like. Some nice little coffee shops, bars and any level of restaurant you want. There’s lots of live music and dancing available. We went to a couple of pro rodeos during our stay and had an absolute blast! There is so much to do in the area, if you get bored it truly is your own fault! And of course, it’s only about a one-hour drive to Austin or San Antonio if you need a big city fix occasionally. There are so many interesting little towns to explore close by! We absolutely love the area and the friendliness of the people!

We hope to return again, but if we’re not able to, we VERY HIGHLY recommend sitting for Debi. You will LOVE it!!!

Stephen
Had a great experience pet sitting Benny, Bella, and Penelope. Stephen is very organized and clearly laid out all of the pets needs. His pets are all very sweet and low maintenance. Benny loves to be around people and appreciates affection. Bella is a sweetheart and is very speedy for her age. You'll barely catch a glimpse of Penelope, but she'll always clean her food bowl. Would definitely sit for Stephen again! Thank you for a great sit!

Ben
It was very pleasant to take care of Stinky. This little cat having fun with nothing and lounging in the sun in the magnificent living room filled with plants and light.
I really liked Ben and Kristine's apartment. During my first meeting with Ben, I appreciated his sense of humor and his detailed explanations. The neighborhood is located in Outremont, a beautiful Jewish community lives there peacefully. Shops and passers-by take us on a journey to the other Jerusalem. A wonderful little bakery very popular in the neighborhood is a must for those who love treats, located only a few minutes walk away. My only regret, I did not have the chance to meet Kristine and discuss knitting with her.
Thank you so much Ben & Kristine
