I wish there was a way to give Abigail more starts for pet care! She was an absolute gem with my senior cat who needs meds every day. We were lucky enough to be able to meet Abigail before our 2 1/2 week trip to Greece. We were instantly put at ease—she charmed us with her sweet personality and it was obvious that she would be more than competent at taking care of our home and our cat. And we were right! She kept in touch with us every few days on What's App, sometimes she had a question and sometimes she just wanted to give us an update on Jasper the cat. Towards the end of our trip, we got a message from Abby that Jasper had gotten into a fight and had a swollen place on his face. She took him to the emergency vet in the middle of the night, stayed there for at least a couple of hours, and was in contact with me the whole time. She was very calm and not panicky in the least which led me to feel at ease. She obviously had the situation well in hand. She took care of all of it without complaint and put the vets fees on her credit card (she OK'd all of his treatment with me) and allowed me to pay her pack when I got home from my trip. A gem! And Jasper recovered beautifully. She also took care of our house beautifully, watered our fairly extensive garden and kept everything alive, and charmed the neighbors. I seriously cannot think of one thing I wish she would have done differently. If you have a chance to use Abigail for a house sitter (or especially a pet sitter!) I would definitely recommend that you do so.

Barbara & Mike have a beautiful home, in excellent location for visiting both Southampton and Portsmouth. They made us feel extra welcome and comfortable as soon as we arrived, and showed us everything we could possibly need to know, which made for a very easy sit. Jimmy is by far one of the most lovable cats we have met, he was no trouble at all to look after, and was lovely company to have! Very chatty and affectionate, sleeping on the bed with one of us most nights. Looking after Jimmy was an absolute delight, and we would do it again in a heartbeat!

Katherine
Katherine and Cameron were very welcoming on our arrival and made us feel completely at home. They introduced us to their lovely home and to Oliver their cat, and after a very enjoyable supper they showed us around the house and gave us lots of helpful details before they left the next day. They left us with some basic provisions for our stay which was very helpful and said we could use any provisions that we needed from the kitchen. They also left a bottle of wine for our enjoyment. The house is in a lovely location and is very well maintained with all mod cons and was very spacious and clean and tidy. The bedroom we had was very comfortable and there was a shower room next to it available for our use.

The arrangements went very smoothly throughout and we kept in contact with Katherine and Cameron during the period of our stay.

Oliver was adorable and it was an absolute joy looking after him. He loved sitting on our laps in the evening and was very affectionate and friendly. He settled very quickly with us and was very happy and content during our stay.

Thank you both for letting us look after your house and Oliver.

Beth
We had a very good time watching Abby and Latte in McLean, Virginia for Beth.

Beth was a very pleasant host for us. She was understanding when we had to arrive a little late because of circumstances outside of our control and made us feel at home quickly once we arrived. She did a very thorough job showing us her house and everything we might need for our sit. She was clear with her expectations and even printed a version of her welcome guide for us to reference. During her travels, she was quick to respond and made us feel appreciated. Near the end of our stay, she gave us a really pleasant call where she thanked us profusely for making her feel at ease during her travels and even invited us back to sit for her again.

The dogs are real sweethearts. Abby is the older one and she's the more mellow of the duo. She is very happy to lay on her bed and enjoy your company as you cook or work around her. She still has a lot of energy and plays fetch like nobody's business. She loves her time outside and is dedicated to playing until you tire her out. She's a play-hard, nap-hard kind of girl. Latte is the younger one and he's the more energetic of the two. Not to say he doesn't like naps, he sure does, but he definitely spends more time up and about, exploring and asking for attention. He's adorable and spunky, full of life, and excited for every new moment right around the corner. He can get mildly jealous of Abby if you give her attention and not him, so make sure you give them both the love they deserve. Joe worked in the kitchen all day around these two and they never became obstructive to his work for any reason. In the evening both Abby and Latte are huge cuddle bugs if you hang out with them in the living room. They're really sweet and cute, and such a pleasure to be around.

The house itself is nice, with plenty of spaces to hang out, work out, work, or rest in. The living room is cozy and comfortable and the kitchen is notably huge. The backyard is also quite large, especially for the area, and that made playtime with Abby and Latte easy and fun. The surrounding area is very nice with a lot of stuff to do nearby. Every necessity you might need is no more than a 10-minute drive away and everything is very accessible. We highly recommend McLean Wine Outlet on Curran St. if you're a foodie; the service there is incredible and they let you try an assortment of wines and cheeses for free. McLean is also a short drive out of Washington D.C. which may be a huge positive point for a lot of people. The capitol is very easy to reach from Beth's home in McLean and there is a ton of stuff to do there. Unfortunately, we weren't at the stay for too long so we didn't have much time to explore D.C. but it is certainly a positive if you're looking to sit here.

Overall our time on this sit was very pleasant and we would recommend it to any sitter willing to give Abby and Latte the exercise and cuddles they deserve.

There is one thing we would like to note. Upon beginning to cook our breakfast the first day, we noticed a small crack in Beth's glass induction stovetop, a simple hairline fracture extending from the side maybe two inches. We figured she was probably aware of this issue and just opted to avoid using that side of the stove to ensure we did not worsen the crack. Over our time on the sit the crack remained the same size and we cleaned the stove thoroughly with a glass induction stove safe cleaner that Beth had in her cabinets. One last inspection and the stove was like new, minus the small fracture that looked just as it did when we arrived. On our last day, we left in the morning, Beth had someone come to take the dogs out later in the day since she wouldn't arrive home until the evening, and that was that. A few days after the sit had ended, Beth sent us a picture of the stovetop with a massive crack in it. The small hairline fracture now extended out and down, cutting off a corner of the stove and appearing much larger than it looked when we left. The image was accompanied by the text "Any idea how this happened?". We explained to Beth that the crack was there when we arrived, that it did not worsen during our sit any noticeable amount, and that it was significantly worse in that image than it ever was during our sit. Moreso, we would have contacted her had the crack enlarged or if we cracked the stove in the first place (which I assure you, we did not). It would serve us no good to break her property in such an obvious way and then not tell her only for her to find out so unceremoniously when she returned. Beth had someone else come into her house to care for her dogs after we left and she did not reach out to us about this problem until days after our sit ended. We understand why she might think we broke her stovetop, but we did not. We have experience with these stoves and have done many other sits with induction stovetops with no issues. Still, we are sorry to hear about the stove.

Heather & Drew, and family are wonderful people and wonderful hosts. Our petsit went off without a hitch thanks to our hosts refined home and hospitality, and lovely their pets! Cedar, Angus, Kitty are so well-trained, easy to look after, super sweet, difficult to part ways with. To top it off, their home, the views, Ridgway were very beautiful . We would love to see them all again, and highly recommend this house sit.
