We let Natascha look after our dog and two cats when we went to our home in New Zealand for the first time in 8 years. We were concerned at first as she mentioned she was vegan, and the dog eats raw food. She said she was fine with this so we went ahead. Upon arrival in New Zealand we got a distraught message from her that she couldn't stay as she'd found a few fleas on the dog and the cats, and that we'd need to arrange for another sitter ASAP. The animals had all been professionally treated at the vets two weeks prior, and the house was spotless. The dog likes running in long grass so he picks up grass fleas. She said she was petrified that her children would catch the fleas so she needed to leave. This was immensely stressful for us as we were on the other side of the world and dealing with jetlag and three kids, and we had to try and arrange an alternative sitter for three weeks over Christmas at very short notice. We were concerned she'd just leave the house and the animals but she thankfully stayed for another two days. Luckily we had a friend who came to stay, or one of us would have had to end our holiday as soon as it began. Upon speaking to her, she'd apparently done "a lot of research on fleas" before she arrived, and I believe she was hyper alert and worried about them already before she arrived. I think Natascha needs to consider if she's capable of looking after other people's animals. Even with flea treatments they can still pick up a flea or two. They are harmless and pose no danger to humans. This is the first time I've had a bad experience with Zeewoi, and I'm still a big fan!
Sara and Hazel are two lovely house sitters who coped well with our two big dogs. They are pleasant, well-travelled and communicate quickly and clearly.
Mike and Patty were great house and pet sitters. Our house was very well cared for and our pup Xhiggy was very happy and comfortable with them. They were very open and accommodating when our friend’s little dog came to stay at our house as well. We would love to have Mike and Patty back to sit for us again and would highly recommend them to anyone.
