Stephanie and Dean were great hosts. They left out special touches to make us feel welcome, and are great communicators. They had were open and friendly from the start. We had a wonderful experience going to Red Dog Farms to pick up their weekly produce (optional) that we were able to enjoy, and at the festive Saturday farmers market in Port Townsend with live music. This is a great sit for forest lovers, with water and beaches just a short distance away. Joy is very special to be with. She is skittish and shy at first, but we learned not to mistake that for inability to connect. She loves connection once she feels safe and relaxed. We found play was the best way to help her open up. She prefers to initiate physical contact unless she's eating, then she looks for you to give her pets or brush her. She also warms to loving eye contact and talking to her. Once a connection was made, she was following us around the house, purring, and interested in most things we were up to. We really looked forward to coming home to her after an afternoon at the beach or eating out in quaint victorian Port Townsend.
DON'T DO IT! Please DO NOT let Kelly convince you that she is not the problem. I have never received or given a poor review on trusted but this woman is out of her mind!!! At first Kelly seemed kind and I felt pity for her and the cats so I wanted to help plus my pet had just been diagnosed with Lymphoma and a 5 month stay would enable me to start taking my baby for Chemotherapy so we could get him well enough to fly before we moved to Albania. Initially Kelly kept her word to do her part to make the house more comfortable. Within the first week of the sit, new mattresses arrived and she had someone come and clean the carpets because one of the cats gets frequent UTI's and when he does he pees on everything. He did get a UTI while I was there. I informed Kelly of the signs and she suggested I take him to the vet. I scheduled the appointment and took Dexter in. I answered the nurse's questions and was permitted to come back for Dexter as they "usually have to keep him" to get a urine sample. I came back for the cat and was handed medications and informed that the Dr. likely contacted the pet parent to discuss the visit. I took him home and started administering the medications as prescribed. The next day I wake up to tons of messages from Kelly claiming I abandoned the cat at the vet and should have been there to comfort him yet 1. you can't be with the pet once they take them off to the back, 2. I was told I could leave and come back because apparently that's what usually happens, 3. He was already picked up and taking his meds when she started yelling at me. Kelly also called me in the middle of one night screaming about an unusually high bill that she claimed was caused by the previous sitter. She complains about every sitter and now having experienced the sit I can clearly see the lies. She continued to use the loss of my cat as an excuse to say I wasn't in my right mind when she is the problem. Kelly would have episodes of fury just to later and apologize and thank me for doing such a great job with the house and cats. She started sending me angry messages in all caps whenever we had a conversation, she was hostile all the time without reason so I told Kelly that I wanted to leave yet she ignored all of my pleas to discuss a departure date. I reached out to trusted representatives who reviewed our conversations and permitted me to set and end date to the sit and let Kelly know that she had until then to find another sitter and that's just what I did, as well as telling Kelly that I would no longer communicate with her other than through a trusted representative. As you could imagine Kelly wasn't too happy with any of this. She then began demanding pictures of her cats (among other things) claiming that I had only sent her duplicate photos (lies!), attempting to make me feel obligated to talk to her. Eventually I informed Kelly that trusted had pictures and videos that I submitted so she could request them and that I would be submitting photos and videos to trusted when I left because I no longer wished to communicate with her. She then proceeded to stalk and harass me. She found all of my email addresses and sent notices demanding money. She knew when we arrived we had to wash practically everything in that uninhabitable house because of the cat pee. She said the water bill was high the first week we were there yet we had already discussed me needing to wash everything. She was demanding payment for all of the bills. Kelly continued to send me threats and rude messages via trusted so I left earlier than the date I provided because I no longer felt comfortable in the house. While there, I would leave cartoons on for the cats when I went to work so the house wouldn't be silent and Kelly apparently dug through my history to throw judgment because she thinks everyone on trusted is a homeless, jobless lowlife which is far from accurate. I work whenever I travel and my Mom is a retired vet so we use trusted as a tool to travel and help people. She sends me a message calling me a liar (saying I told her I was 34 which not only have I never told her my age, she told me my age -30- because it's verified through trusted and she saw it on my profile)!! She called me unemployed (false and irrelevant). She said I was abandoning her house and cats (false). She said I had her address on my linked in profile (false, I listed Cary, NC as my current city so I could find additional, temporary work locally since I would be there for 5 months and would need extra funds so my savings wouldn't suffer too much from chemo costs). At the end of her message she said "for your consideration, it's unlikely that you will be able to leave the country if there are any criminal charges pending against you" (she knows I like to travel and is now determined to attach criminal charges to my name in an attempt to block me from traveling again). Later that same day she sends a message saying "Well that got sent before I was ready so it must have been meant to be." She then proceeds to try to backtrack on all her crazy talk but clearly it's too late (this is why I stopped communicating with her via WhatsApp and switched to trusted full time because she has a habit of deleting the messages she's embarrassed herself with which can't be done on the trusted platform. Everything I have mentioned in this review is documented through trusted and to be perfectly honest, I don't understand how Kelly is still allowed to be a trusted member, she should have been removed long ago. FINAL SITUATION. As if everything she said and did wasn't bad enough, I submitted the photos and videos to trusted of when and how I left the house, as I said I would, but apparently Kelly was not informed. She sent emails and messages to both myself and trusted saying that I left the bedroom doors open to the cats, the litter boxes filthy, the dirty laundry in the hamper (I thought that was where dirty laundry was supposed to go and I had no plans to wash anything else the cat peed on since she complained about the water bill), all of the doors unlocked, cat food left out, and she claimed I still had her house key which is a law violation and she would press charges and all that. Luckily for me, I had evidence to debunk every lie as you can see in my videos the house was clean, the bedroom doors were closed, the litter boxes were clean and empty, there was no cat food left out, all the doors were locked and the Key was placed where requested! She created stuff in her mind to convince herself that everyone else is a liar but she's clearly the biggest liar of them all and it's evident! Oh, also. She sent me a PayPal request a couple of weeks after the sit demanding $6650 for "Vandalism, Criminal Trespassing, Veterinary Hospital Bills, Feline Leukemia Testing and treatment, Utility Bill, Unpaid Rent, Laundry Fees, Cleaning" Yeah, she's delusional. I reported this to Trusted and was told to ignore Kelly’s requests for now because she is also sending them to other past sitters but they are continuing to “assist her with her claims.” I just wish trusted would allow photo attachments to reviews, sitters deserve to know exactly what they're walking into and visuals would be helpful. If there is a way you can reach out sitter to sitter I'd be more than happy to share my proof via the Trusted messenger because I have plenty, Kelly has none because she's a liar. Mollie did not ruin her house. Kelly inherited this house and is now inviting sitters into her home and creating drama so she can press charges, file insurance claims, and get the house renovated for free. I must admit, I am extremely disappointed with the way Trusted has handled this entire situation, especially considering Kelly's past with previous sitters. I'm not sure if I will be renewing my membership because I don’t know what I'm paying for now, I don’t feel protected as a sitter.
I had a lovely few days looking after these three sweet kitties! Alita was immediately up for some cuddles, Bindi and Goblin were a little bit more reserved, as cats often are, but in a day or so we were best of mates! Genie is a very welcoming and generous host. Her house is gorgeous, cosy and interesting, with lots of intriguing bits and pieces reflective of her artistic nature. The location is great with a couple of cafes, convenience store etc just a minute or two walk away and about a 15 minute walk to the main hub. Thanks so much Genie for asking me to look after your gorgeous little family! xxx
Had a wonderful time in Winchester, taking care of Talulah for Nigel. Talulah was very sweet and easy to care for. Nigel was really welcoming and super interesting to talk to regarding his travels...and love of coffee! Nigel's house isn't far from town, less than 10 mins drive and less than 20 mins by bus. His house is comfortable. And Winchester is fabulous!
There was not good communication between Gaby and I. I tried to set up a video call beforehand to discuss everything in person and they never got back to me until a couple days before I was supposed to arrive. Their elderly dog required MUCH more care than otherwise noted and was frankly incapable of walking by himself. To do all the work I did (after not being updated) and to receive this review is simply not professional of Gaby.
Steve and Nicky are lovely people, who warmly welcomed us with a wonderful meal. Bailey is utterly adorable, the most friendly dog and easy to mind. Le Petit Moulin is a great place to housesit.
