A few years ago, our doctor recommended Downtown Dog in the Country as a place to board our furry family members. Since we travel frequently to visit friends and family in other states, finding the right boarding facility was as important to us as finding a trustworthy babysitter. We have a Doodle and a Mini Schnauzer, and we take their care seriously. Living 35 minutes from Downtown Dog, we drive there because we genuinely trust the couple who owns the facility. Our dogs love staying there, and as we approach, I roll down the window to watch their excitement grow. Mika and Arlo can smell the familiar location! We affectionately refer to it as “the farm” because our dogs get to enjoy the company of turkeys, goats, chickens, and other dogs. Additionally, you can even purchase dog training sessions while you're away!
I’ve left multiple dog’s with Jessica and they’ve not only been happy puppers but literally love going there. She replies quickly and she’ll make you feel at ease. She sends photos when I ask and post progress videos on social media. I’ve used her from boarding to training. She has boarded my dog, Brisket multiple times. I’ve recruited her to do her 3week training with my dog, Sammy, and he was such a good boy when he came back. I’m currently using her to help me train my dog, Tilly, and the progress in just one day is crazy. Though this one is more about training me😂
We love Downtown Dog in the Country! We started taking our dog there almost a year ago and found it to easily be the best place for him. He was used to country living and the outdoors before we moved to our urban home in Tulsa. Other large kennels felt like dog prisons, and he seemed traumatized when he got home. Jessica also help train our dog after we found Downtown Dog in the Country which helped him make the transition to an "urban" dog. I highly recommend Downtown Dog in the Country!!!
We just left our two Aussies with Downtown Dog in the Country for two weeks. This was the longest time we've been apart from them and they were in excellent hands. They have plenty of space to run, play and they also had some training sessions. It's nice to know we have a place to bring our dogs and they are safe and loved.
Jessica literally saved my dogs life. I adopted a very sweet and amazing but fear aggressive dog. He had a bite history and even got me but I saw his potential and he had been at the shelter a year already and I wanted to give him a chance. I knew he needed a lot of work, more than I could give. I called almost every positive reinforcement trainer in the area, none would take him for board and train and several told me to put him down without even seeing him. Jessica didn’t even hesitate she said she’d take him. I was hesitant though because I had some misconceptions about negative reinforcement training. However, I decided to take him to her and I’m so glad I did. When I took him in, he couldn’t be leashed. Had to force him in a carrier to even get him there and got my hand torn up in the process. And when I visited for my first weekly training with them, she was able to clip a leash on him without a second glance. He’s been home with me a couple months now and with persistent training, I was able to trim his nails myself, something he had to previously be sedated for and hated it so much they had to keep sedating him because he was so upset he kept pushing through the sedation. He’s such an amazing little guy but without Jessica he’d likely have to have gone back to the shelter where he probably wouldn’t have made it. Would absolutely recommend Jessica for any training needs.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Jessica is professional and extremely knowledgeable about training and dogs in general. She’s been able to answer all my questions and sent me home with tons of information and literature to continue in our training journey. She makes herself available anytime I have questions or concerns even though it’s been months since we’ve been there. The facility it great, very clean and spacious. The dogs also have enclosed outside spaces. She keeps mowed paths in tall grasses for the dogs to also run around and enjoy. Her entire yard is fenced and there are many other closed off spaces for the dogs to play and explore. Jessica also takes the time get to know each and every dog. She will carefully form play groups based on each dog’s personality and demeanor, ensuring they become properly socialized. I can’t thank her and Clay enough. I now have a happy and obedient dog. I also have a wonderful resource that I can reach out to over and over again if anything arises in the future. I recommend her facility for boarding and training 100%. Whether you are just going on vacation and need a place for your dog to be taken care of or you’ve got a new puppy and need obedience training. Check out Downtown Dog in the Country. I can’t wait to start taking her service dog training class!
I've used Downtown Dog for years. Jessica took great care of Cowboy in his time of need by giving him training and introduced us to Ellie Ray. Cowboy and Ellie have both left us and now she takes care of Vinnie and Voilet. I don't have to worry about them when I'm out of town. I know they are in good hands.
Ms. Cargill knows everything there is to know about handling dogs. No matter the dog or the behavior, she can get it controlled. She helps you become the perfect handler for your dog. Follow what she says like your life depends on it. She really knows her stuff. She has helped me train my future service dog from puppy on and he's doing fantastic. Even virtually she is a genius at what she does. You won't regret choosing her to care for you fur babies.
Jessica is an excellent trainer and a great person. I will definitely use her when I need my animals to stay in a doggy "hotel." They don't just stay in a kennel. She allows the dogs to run around, socialize, and play. I will always recommend her to anyone looking for a quality dog trainer/kennel.
I absolutely can’t say enough positive things about Jessica at Downtown Dog in the Country. My 2 year old dog, Macy, went through her board and train program earlier this summer. She transformed my dog. Macy arrived at training unable to walk on a leash, jumping on anyone she came in contact with, reactive (excitement) towards all other animals, and all around un-trained. The dog I have today is a well-trained, polished version of her old self. She walks in a perfect heal, doesn’t jump on guests, listens to me when other animals are present and allows them to pass calmly, and so much more. Jessica built a foundation for years of successful training by giving Macy and myself a new way to effectively communicate with each other. The support doesn’t stop once the board and train program is over, either. Jessica offers a free weekly 1 on 1 session as well as a group training session with other dogs who have also completed the board and train program. These lessons, coupled with the initial training Macy received this summer, have helped us put our new skills into practice together. My parents also sent their puppy to Jessica right after he got his last round of puppy shots, and she sent him home house trained, crate trained, and with beginner-level obedience training as a months-old puppy. Whether your dog is years or months old, I confidently recommend Downtown Dog in the Country. I will use Jessica for any dogs I have in the future.
Happy J Ranch has been a visit that was easy for our dog to look forward to, especially after her mama passed, and that has always helped us to feel they will keep her safe and happy every time she goes there. They are good to send us pictures and keep us informed, AND have adapted their activities to our dogs' aging needs while trying to help keep her active. They are dear people to us, and their place is great for animals.
Amy and Charles have created such a fun place to leave your pups ! They made it so easy to enjoy vacation knowing my boys were taken care of. Amy sent daily photos and updated. took the boys on excursions to meet the donkeys and other animals. They ended their fun stay with their very on photos on the pup wall :) which Amy was kind enough to have made into magnets and mail to my home ! 10000% recommend. We will deff use in the future .
Our dogs have stayed here four times. They now get excited when we ask them if they want to go to “the farm”. We drive over 45 minutes because we know they are so well taken care of. We are provided with many photos at least once daily! Our dogs look the happiest they have ever been when they go stay at happy j ranch. I can not say enough to describe how much we enjoy having such dog loving people caring for our dogs while we are on vacation and traveling. One of our favorite things is that they have dog crates for our dogs so we don’t have to worry about bringing our crates during drop off.
Highly recommended. We have 2 dogs that visit Happy J Ranch every time they get a chance. We've boarded our dogs at several places previously and would say that Happy J Ranch is the "Best compared to the Rest" and is our pets "Home way from Home". Our dogs are part of our family and we have found that Amy and Charlie are our extended family. You can see the compassion and genuine sincere love for all the animals under their care. Our dogs gets excited every time they get to stay over. We simply pull up to Happy J Ranch's drive way, open the car door and our dogs automatically runs inside. quickly greets Amy and Charlie and sprint to the large back yard to say hello to the cows, goats and chickens. It's a great "camp-out" for them. Amy is a great photographer and takes some of the best pictures. She keeps us updated with pictures when we are away and our dogs always have the best of time.
We love sending our dog, Callie, to Amy at Happy J Ranch Bed & Biscuit. Callie is so excited when she gets there and I have no concerns with leaving her there because I know Amy loves Callie just like her own dog. Amy sends us pictures twice a day of Callie playing in the back yard or taking naps with their dog Memphis. I would recommend Happy J Ranch to anyone and could not rate them any higher!
I had never taken my dog to a boarding facility before, but after hearing great things from friends, I decided to give this place a try. It was an incredible experience! The owners are so kind, communicative, and truly go above and beyond to work with you. They took phenomenal care of our dog, and I felt completely at ease. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for top-notch care for their dog!
Amy and Charles have watched my dog 4 times now and she absolutely loves them and being with them. Amy takes pictures and keeps you updated everyday your dog with them! 100% would recommend them to anyone.
My dog Coco has such a wonderful time staying here! She gets excited in the car as we get close. This makes me feel so happy that she is excited to be here. Have boarded several times and had great experiences
"I can't say enough good things about the care my three cats receive when I'm away! Sylvia and all of the pet sitters go above and beyond to make sure they're happy and well taken care of. It's such a relief to know that not only are my fur babies in excellent hands, but my home is also looked after. The peace of mind is priceless! Highly recommend their services for any pet owner looking for reliable and loving care.
Sylvia and all of the pet sitters at Sit Stay Play are the best! We've been using their services for many years anytime we travel. We schedule several visits daily when we are out of town so our 3 dogs get plenty of outdoor breaks. The sitter sends an email with a visit report each time they stop by and we always look forward to those reports to see photos and hear what our dogs have been up to with their pet sitter friends. I feel comfortable leaving my dogs home knowing such reliable, professional pet sitters will be loving and caring for them when I'm not there. I always come home to happy pups!!
Katy and Bo looked after my two dogs every week for a few years until we had to move away. We have missed them ever since. At first we just had one dog, Eve, and Katy and Bo would take her for walks 1-2 times a week. Eve LOVED them so much, and she woud get so excited when she was going to see Katy and Bo. They would also stay overnight with Eve when I would travel, and I always felt confident that Eve would be well-cared for. While we were away, we looked forward to seeing the pictures that they would send us. They always always left detailed daily logs after each walk, or for each day that they stayed at our home. When we got our second dog, Ella, from a rescue, Katy and Bo helped me to socialize her. Ella got used to them very quickly and trusted them to take her on walks, and stay with her overnight. My dogs loved them so much, and we were heartbroken to say goodbye to Katy and Bo when we had to move away. I wish I could have taken them with me! I always felt 100% confident that my dogs were receiving outstanding care, and tons of love when I was away. I can't think of any business I would trust more with my fur babies. If you are looking for someone to take your dogs for walks, give them tons of love, and/or house sit while you are away, Sit Stay Play is definitely a great company that you can depend on. I recommend them without any hesitation!!
Katy and Bo are fantastic! Both Einstein and I loved Katy and Bo. I moved to Orange County after 10 years in San Francisco and my dog walker was also a close friend so it was going to be tough finding someone I could entrust with Einstein's care. I was so lucky to find Sit Stay Play (Katy and Bo). I worked long and sometimes crazy hours and when I got home Einstein always seemed happy which I attribute to a great day with Katy or Bo. At times I had a crazy scheduled which meant last minute changes which Katy and Bo worked with me to accommodate. I would recommend Sit Stay Play (Katy and Bo) with no reservations.
Best pet sitters ever! We were fortunate to find Sit Stay Play when our boy Jake was just a brand new pup. Jake and Harley (Jake's cat sister) loved the visits and outings and we were always happy knowing our "kids" were being well loved and cared for by Katy and Bo. They are so reliable and trustworthy -- we could always count on them to be there when they said they would be! We were so sad when they made the move from California to Tulsa...our fur babies miss Katy and Bo (and so do we)!
Katy and Bo were so great with my three dogs, two of whom had special needs. I have never felt comfortable with dog sitters because one of my dogs, who only has two legs, was aggressive with strangers, but Katy and Bo took their time with him and made him feel very comfortable to the point that he looked forward to their coming over and playing with him. They also were so gentle and wonderful with my very old and sick dog. Completely reliable and fabulous dog sitters. When they told me they were moving out of the area I cried. Seriously.
Silva is amazing! Our dogs love her. We had her walk our dogs while I was deployed with the military and she helped us out during a difficult time. She was professional, reliable and a great value. Worth every penny. I would highly recommend Sit Stay Play for your dogs.
I just want to give credit to a local company I used last week. I have a cat and was going to be out of town for a few days so I started looking for someone to feed her daily. I found Sit-Stay-Play and was VERY pleased with them. Sylvia with SSP came to visit with me and meet my cat prior to accepting me as a client. They even watered my balcony plants and scooped my cat box! After each visit I received an email about the visit - with a daily picture of my cat. I can't say enough good things about this company. I strongly recommend them!
Katie and Bo are amazing. I never had to worry, I always new that Harley was in the best of care! Lots of walks, homemade treats, and of course love. I would trust them with either of my 4 legged or 2 legged kids!
Awesome pet sitting service … very caring and loving!
