I was very happy to be chosen to do the sit with Jokes in Sunnyside, Calgary, even with the cold (-25 degrees Celsius on the day of my arrival; was +15 degrees on May 3rd) and snow. It was my first time in Canada and these 2 months (Feb23-May04) gave me ample time to get a taste of the Canadian way of life.

First of all, Kathleen and Mike were very warm and welcoming. Kathleen picked me up from the airport and drove me to the hotel where I stayed the few days before the sit. Next day she drove me a bit through downtown, pointing at the sights I should see. Then she drove home, explained the ins and outs of their beautiful house and needs of Jokes and took me to dinner. The next day I had the day off, so explored downtown a bit and bought a March pass for Calgary transit. Sunday they left very, very early, so Kathleen arranged an Uber for me to take me to the house later that morning. She kept in touch regularly and on the day of my flight back to the Netherlands she took me to the airport.

Second, Jokes was invisible the first day, but he showed up for his meal in the evening. Once he noticed that I was the one feeding him and opening the door to let him in & out, he decided that I was an ok human and he was a total sweetie. I sent Kathleen updates twice or thrice a week per whatsapp of his shenanigans.

Third, their house is light and airy, is interior decorated beautifully, has a guest bedroom w/en-suite, a modern shower unit I used in the basement and a kitchen with every modern appliance. Kathleen even emptied some shelves in the pantry.

Fourth, the neighbourhood is quiet. Their house borders on the McHugh Bluff, a park on a hill with exceptional views of downtown, Bow river, Sunnyside and way beyond. I walked to supermarket Safeway and LRT Sunnyside in 15 minutes and with the light rail I went on to discover Calgary one station at a time, occasionally taking a bus, eg bus 900 from LRT Rundle to Crossiron Mills, a humongous shopping mall just outside Calgary. I could have rented a car, from the 5 agencies close to the downtown light rail line, but decided not to, leaving the Rockies for another visit.

Thank you, Kathleen, for giving me the opportunity to do the sit and get to know Calgary! I enjoyed myself thoroughly and highly recommend this sit with Jokes.

Natashah and Goran
It was such a pleasure house/pet-sitting for Natashah. Her furrbaby Blanca is such a sweetheart, and by far the easiest dog we've had the pleasure of looking after. We highly recommend house/pet-sitting for Natashah. We would love to house/pet sit for her again!

Nice small place that is manageable to take care of. Near everything good, easy access to Fremont Bridge and Forest Park, easy street parking. Tom and Jerry are two very loveable, energetic, young cats who are easy to care for. I had a good time and enjoyed my sit. Harish was easy going and communicated well with me. I’d sit here again!

Paul and Melanie
Paul and Melanie were such a pleasure. They took the time to introduce me to Lucy (sweet Lucy!), their house, and their neighborhood. I felt at home from the minute I arrived until I left. I had a terrific working space for telecommuting from their office or their lovely patio. Lucy and I enjoyed walks through the neighborhoods with gorgeous views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. It was a getaway with access to the pools, workout facilities, onsite restaurants, and even the golf cart. While walking Lucy, I met the neighbor and had a dinner with her. Very friendly neighborhood.
The hardest part was leaving Lucy. She will capture your heart! I look forward to an opportunity to sit with her again in the future. Thank you to Paul and Melanie for making my first sit so wonderful...
