Their home is filled with intentional design choices, entertainment methods and full-on comforts. One of which is the option to have air conditioning in most of the rooms, which is a treat in the humid season on this quaint island. This is a key necessity for the pup as well. They’ve created a comprehensive guide on caring for the pets, the home and the pool. Much of the maintenance is supported by helpers who clean the house twice per week, skim the pool and clear the brush from the yard. All of these helpers are extremely friendly and arrive on a tentative schedule. The main responsibility is to feed the animals and to keep Keiko well exercised, spending time with her so that she lives an enriched life in a climate where she should avoid the outdoors during the hottest times of the season. This is not hard to do as Keiko is extremely sweet and adventurous with a charming personality. Each morning, we found a place to adventure, even revisiting similar beaches but taking new perspectives. One day we’d go along the stretch of the beach as far as we could before obstruction. The next day, we’d be on a trail in the jungle. The next, rock climbing next to the ocean. Once the morning hours are coming to an end, it’s time to get her home to eat and rest. There is also a kitty who is older, and so mostly naps but will meow to remind you within the 2 hours before a meal. After some time resting, it’s good to play with Keiko, she has many toys and she is great with recall and with several commands. My sweet K-9 companion, Kelly, passed away last May and sitting for pets over this year has been a wonderful gift to ease that loss. Keiko’s playful spirit really reminded me of my best friend and for that connection, I am forever grateful. During the middle of the day when it is hottest, most of the island seems to slow down as if it is nap time. You can still go off to places and restaurants but please do respect the relaxed approach taken by the natives as it’s a part of Thai island culture. Koh Lanta is a wonderfully relaxing place and fun to explore via motorbike. Beware of the sun, the heat, and the risk for dehydration and carry bug repellent. You may want to be prepared for fending off monkeys from the Glasszilla territory as well ;) This is also a great place to cool off near the pool, to work remotely from, and to get in some exercise. For the off chance of rain, there are boardgames, table tennis and a pool table inside. Thank you so much to B, G, S and K for welcoming me into their home as if I was a part of the family. Randy and Shara were very welcoming and had everything ready for us. We had so much fun watching Rico and Miley, but to watch a fun bunny on Easter was a true bonus! Their house and neighborhood are beautiful and we really enjoyed using Randy's guide to find a lot of fun and interesting things to do in the area. We would definitely be back if we ever have the opportunity!
We loved spending time with Emmett in Santa Fe! Emmett was a sweet cat - very entertaining but also very chill. Mark's house is beautiful and we felt great about sitting for him. Gunnar and I absolutely loved sitting there and would go back in a blink!
