Mackenzie's place was great to stay at and Maple was a pleasure to take care of! The house guide was very clear with instructions and Mackenzie was great about communicating. The house itself is beautiful and in such a great area for easy access to all kinds of mountain activities!
Steve and Natalie are a warm and generous couple who welcomed us into their beautiful home as if we were old friends. We met twice prior to the house sit, once to look after the furry & feathered pets for an afternoon in their absence, giving the dogs a chance to have a good sniff of us. Steve collected us on the first evening of the assignment, and we spent some time going over the required daily routines. Natalie cooked a scrumptious dinner, Steve opened a bottle of wine – over which we had a lovely chat with them and their adult sons. Even though they wouldn’t be there themselves, Natalie and Steve had decorated their entire home with colourful outdoor lights and a Christmas tree which made our Christmas all the more special. There was even a present under the tree for us. Bella, Satu and Moji are an absolute delight. They’re all sweet natured, well-trained and affectionate dogs. We loved taking them off-lead through the fields of the property – and the doggos loved it too. Puppy Moji was hilarious leaping into the pond to retrieve sticks, seemingly oblivious to the icy temperature. We were relatively new to chicken husbandry but Natalie had prepared many pages of notes on all aspects of running the home and pet care and these included the chickens’ daily schedules. It was fun collecting the eggs. Steve insisted on loaning us a car for the first couple of days until our daughter arrived with hers. My brother invited himself to spend Christmas with us, not realising our pet sitting plans, and when I asked Natalie if it would be acceptable for him to stay, she readily extended the hospitality to him as well. There were opportunities to leave the property for a couple of hours each day but we chose not to, being Christmas, we were happy just to spend the time together as a family and keep the dogs company.
