Abby
We really enjoyed meeting Abby and Graham and spending a bit of time getting to know them and the history of their farm. We appreciated the care they put into making it such a special place.
Everything about the communication before and during our stay was easy and they were very responsive and helpful.
We appreciated getting picked up and dropped off from the train station to make our travels easier as we don't have a car. Note: the nearest grocery is about 2.5km away which we did walk to one day and it was a lovely walk not too difficult but long.
Cara (Aussie Shepherd), Lila (ragdoll cat), the horses and chickens were easy to care for.
We really enjoyed our walks around the property watching Cara chase butterflies, feeding the horses pellets (they ate grass during our stay so really we checked on them, giving some carrots here and there and gave Charlotte her medicine with a bit of food each day), and checking in on the chickens and collecting an egg or two.
Cara is full of energy and loved being with us. She's mostly an outside dog coming in at night to sleep in mud room area. She's easy to groom with an outside grooming table, brush and detangle spray as needed. She responds well to commands and really loves treats!
Lila is mostly outside as well but comes in to eat, sleep and take a break from Cara chasing her.
She has an automatic feeder with a voice recording of Abby calling to eat, which was so funny we couldn't figure out what the sound was (it was almost like a small child or bird outside) the entire time. We had a good laugh about the mysterious "voice" we heard when Abby told us at the end of our stay.
The grounds are well maintained, with beautiful landscaping so it feels resort-like.
Other duties included taking the rubbish bins down the driveway to the road, taking care of the pool, which was easy with the robot cleaner, pool net, and a cup of chemicals here and there.
Abby and Graham's house is well equipped with everything you need during your stay. The beds are the most comfortable we've slept in! There's plenty of space too which is great since we work remotely. WiFi was great for video calls.
We highly recommend pet sitting for Abby and Graham and hopefully we can see them again and meet the new pup that arrived after we left.
