Morgana
What an incredible experience! Cat is the most adorable and unique cat ever. He is sooo sweet, adorable and cuddly. Morgana was amazing from the beginning. Communication with her was so easy and she made sure to explain to me everything. The apartment was so clean and well organized. Most importantly it was really well located! Only a few minutes walk from two subway station, coffee shops, grocery stores, the old port, etc. I genuinely had a wonderful time and I would recommend this experience to anyone!

In short, we had an absolutely fantastic time in Pelham with Jack and the flock. Scott and Elizabeth are very kind and welcoming. The house was beautiful, clean, spacious, and cozy. The property was secluded and quiet, and we had a blast exploring the trails in the woods in their expansive yard. The chickens and guinea fowl are low maintenance and fun to watch. The star of the sit, however, was Jack. He stole our hearts immediately and we miss him dearly. We would highly recommend this sit to any nature lover looking for a quiet getaway. We would love to return some day!

In long:

Scott and Elizabeth are very sweet people who exude “Southern Hospitality.” They welcomed us graciously into their home and gave us a detailed tour before departing. From our initial contact, their communication was excellent. They wrote us a detailed guide with pictures explaining how to care for the poultry and Jack, as well as important information for the house overall, which they shared with us months in advance. They were easily reachable on their trip and very thankful upon their arrival home. All around, great people!

The house is just stunning. High ceilings and lots of windows produce gorgeous natural lighting throughout the house. There are trees and plants everywhere, and the entire house is decorated with adorable and unique chicken and guinea fowl art. Scott and Elizabeth left the place sparkling clean for our stay. The house is very large, outfitted with an office that’s perfect for WFH and a chef’s kitchen. The internet is extremely fast, perfect for streaming or working. There is workout equipment available, as well as a lovely front and back porch to relax on. You cannot see or hear any neighbors while at the house; it is perfectly quiet. They are a 20 minute drive from Danville, VA, which has restaurants, groceries, a movie theater, and whatever else you might need.

The house sits on over 10 acres of property, most of it wooded. There are trails throughout the woods, which allowed us to explore the forest, wetlands, and a creek. We had so much fun walking the trails with Jack everyday. There is also a nice fire pit outside, which we took advantage of. The stars at night are so beautiful! We saw/heard an incredible amount of wildlife while we were there, including owls, bats, coyotes, deer, frogs, and of course, squirrels. Elizabeth keeps bees, so there were frequently happy bees buzzing around the property, pollinating all the beautiful spring flowers sprouting up.

The flock of poultry includes many guinea fowl and chickens. The guinea fowl can be loud, but never obnoxiously so, and the noises they made were quite endearing. All of them were very well-behaved, and the fresh eggs they produced made for excellent breakfasts. Their care is minimal and easy, and quite straightforward. We enjoyed their company!

Last, but certainly not least, Jack.. one of the best dogs we’ve ever had the pleasure of caring for. Jack was the star of the show. He is a thick, stocky, intimidating looking dog with the sweetest personality and saddest puppy dog eyes. He warmed up to us instantly. He was our shadow for the week, only leaving our side to play with his best friend Diesel, a German shepherd down the road. Jack is an exceptional heeler, and would dutifully follow us along the trails and throughout the property off-leash. He is quiet and extremely well-behaved. He was down for whatever you wanted to do - cuddling on the couch? Yes. Running along the creek? Yes. Watching the sunset over the wetlands? Yes. Running errands in the car? Yes. Chilling on the back porch and listening to the frogs? Yes. He quickly became our best friend and we miss him so, so much!

In conclusion, if you ever have the chance to sit for Scott and Elizabeth, you’d be a fool not to take it. Serenity, nature, and the sweetest dog ever await you. Thanks for everything, Scott and Elizabeth. We hope to return someday!

Laurie
Had a wonderful Easter weekend stay at Laurie and Jim's place. They have a beautiful home, with beautiful, high-rise views. Along with the delightful company of their loving friendly kitten Shadow. She’s young, playful, full of energy & likes to cuddle. She made it a truly exceptional experience. Jim's communication skills and quick response to text added to the overall excellence of the stay. They provided everything I needed for a great stay. I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to go again. Highly recommended Laurie’s home

Jane
We had a fantastic week sitting in Barnes and would happily sit for Jane again. Pru and Henry are delightful cats. Pru is a little more reserved but brush her and she’ll soon love you. Henry is much more curious and happily slept with us. He adores Dreamies so shaking the packet is an easy way to get him indoors! We were blessed with some warm September weather so both cats spent much of the day outdoors. They have a large garden to roam in and we enjoyed sitting outside too.

Jane is a lovely lovely host and we felt so welcome. Her house is beautiful and we felt at home straight away, especially as she left us with such good information. Jane was very quick to respond to messages and nothing was too much trouble.

We loved looking after Midgy. She is such an affectionate, sweet natured cat and she sat on our laps more or less straight away. She needs medication, but this is very easy to do and she eats it all up.
Deb is really welcoming and friendly. The house has a beautiful view of the sea. There are lots of nice walks around Burghead. We can recommend eating at The Bothy and it's sister establishment in Hopeman.
All in all, we had a fantastic time and can highly recommend.

Lovely house in a nice location. Friendly doormen, and you have everything you need. Michelle's dog Vika was super friendly and always very energetic ideal for people who love to go for frequent walks/runs with a dog and there are several parks nearby where you can bring her to. The cats were lovely even the quiet one warmed up to me🥹. It was a pleasure to get to know them and sit for them.
