We looked after Kate and Ruben's house and wonderful dogs for 3 weeks. We absolutely loved walking the pack twice a day, around the beautiful glen, through the woods and along the beachfront of Cape Town. The house was the perfect base for short day trips around the area and gave us a sense of what it's like to live in this amazing city. We stayed with Kate & Ruben for a couple of days before they left for their holiday as there was a lot of information to absorb about the house and the routine of the dogs. Kate left us comprehensive notes and they both went over everything with us in as much detail as we needed. We can't say enough nice things about the dogs, the stars of the show! The huskies (Ash & Salem) are beautiful. They will get you a lot of attention when you are out walking as everyone wants some beautiful Husky love in their life. Ash wins the award for most chilled dog and Salem, for sure, for loudest snorer (who knew snoring could be so cute!) Toto will be your best mate and is a 10/10 good boy. He loves his ball and to run around but equally loves a fuss. Oli, the most headstrong sausage dog we ever met! Was a handful at first (as we expected, briefed in by Kate & Ruben) but after a few days started to thaw and then after a week really showed his true self. A super cuddly, fun and loving boy. We loved that he would come and join us for a cuddle in the evening when we watched tv. The house is beautiful and you will have everything you need and can also get in touch with Kate and Ruben to ask any questions. Kate and Ruben themselves are a very warm, gracious and friendly couple and made us feel so welcome and relaxed whilst we were with them. Kate even drove us around the neighbourhood to show us local walks and good cafe spots. There is loads to do around Cape Town, and enough good bars and restaurants to keep you going for years. You will need to allow some time to focus on getting the routine right and if you are a serious dog lover who is able to handle four magnificent hounds and interested in seeing this unique part of the world then I think you would have an absolutely tremendous experience by doing this house sit!
