Pat and Kathy were an amazing pair for caring for my pups while I was away. The whole process ran without problems. I received regular updates and photos. Clearly they exhibited and a high level of attention to all matters of my house and pets. Great experience for me. Thank you Pat and Kathy!!
What a lovely experience in Pencaitland, a quiet village on the outskirts of Edinburgh, easily accessible to city center via bus or train. Best of both worlds! Right around the corner from their home is a neighborhood pub which is dog friendly, and down the street from that is a gas station/convenience market for the essentials. There is a castle estate 1/4 mile away and a river right out the back door and a huge green area out the front, so there is no shortage of places to take the dogs. Walking them was a piece of cake, Olive the retriever is captive as long as you have treats in your pocket at all times! Charley trots along on her leash as if she isn't even there! Sometimes I had to look down to make sure she was still with me, she is such a good little walker. Kate and Jon gave us clear care instructions before they left, and made it clear that this was our holiday as well, and they wanted us to enjoy ourselves so there was no pressure to perform tasks or pet related timetables, which was lovely. The house was left clean, tidy with everything in its place, and even some welcome snacks on the counter for us! The king size bed was super comfortable with en suite bath. Both Olive and Charley are well behaved, well trained and obedient dogs. Getting to city center is as easy as walking to the bus stop (less than 5 minutes) and then a 45-60 min bus ride through several smaller villages on the way. If you have a car, you can get to city center faster by driving to the train station (13 min) and then a 10 min train ride to Edinburgh. You will not be disappointed in this house sit. Kate and Jon are the best! And they have fast wifi! And a full garage gym!
