West Hoathly is a lovely little village near East Grinstead. Nicci and Chaz's home is set back from the road, down some steps and when you arrive you feel surrounded by trees and nature. It really is a place to unwind and forget the outside world for a bit. Their home is really comfortable, with a beautiful kitchen/dining area, where we spent 90% of the time. The lounge has a lovely woodburner and plenty of logs and firelighters. There is also a burner in the study room. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a lovely bathroom next to the room. Communication was easy, despite the 8hr time delay, and a full welcome booklet was left for us, with full instructions for Herb's medication. Herb the cocker spaniel is a character, being fully deaf and in his later years, he is a little more anxious than other dogs. Herb likes company, reassurance and slower paced walks. There are plenty of lovely walks in the area, however, when we were there most paths were incredibly muddy so we stuck to the local cricket field and the camp site just below it which wasn't too bad. Bonnie & Clyde (2 cats) are also really characterful, very friendly and will come sit on your lap at every opportunity, they are no problem at all. There is an award winning pub (The Cat) 1 minute walk away which we are told, has amazing food, although we didn't eat there. We would be more than happy to sit for Nicci and Chaz again and enjoyed our 2 weeks immensely. Thanks Nicci & Chaz!
What a wonderful experience for our first TH sit. Alison and Taylor are so warm and welcoming. Their home in Saxapahaw is a little gem. Right on the river and a quick easy drive to fun, quirky downtown Saxapahaw. It’s a roomy and cozy house with all the comforts of home (except a microwave, which was fine by us). But it was their pets that stole our hearts. Jasmine is the sweetest, most chill dog you’ve ever met. You will be amazed at the pep this 16 years YOUNG girl has in her step. She loves to walk and hike, but she’s also content just to snuggle. Jazzy is ready to hop in the car and go wherever you go. She is remarkably quiet and relaxed, and just the coolest dog ever. We miss her already. Pie and Pepper (aka Lil Spicy Girl) are precious kitties. Like most sisters, they have very distinct personalities. Pie is a sweetie. She crawled right up in my lap the first ten minutes I was in the house. Peppers needed a bit to warm up. When she did, she was almost as sweet as, well, Pie. Alison and Taylor were wonderful to communicate with. They made the process for these TH newbies so easy. Very flexible and understanding when I had an unexpected delay. Their welcome guide is helpful and detailed in the best way. They really made everything easy for us, which was just lovely.
