Our stay in Stroud was the perfect pet/housesit. Cabbage is more than adorable, and very easy to care for. The house and garden are beautiful, with great views, in quiet area of the cotswolds. Sarah and Joni were extremely welcoming and fun to talk to. We wish we would have more time to spend together. They left very detailed information as well as guidebooks and maps. We would love to come back to sit if the timing is right, or just for a visit.
(six thumbs-up!) I had the best time house sitting for Mike while working remote! We met up the day before so he could show me around the house and neighborhood, meet Radar and Oliver, and he made some great recommendations for where to go around town. Mike was very accommodating and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay and that I felt comfortably at home with the animals. He outlined a super manageable routine that works for him to meet Radar and Oliver’s needs and made sure I knew I could find what works for me and that it wasn’t a strict schedule by any means. The house was very clean, prepped, organized and ready, and Mike was communicative and available for anything I needed during my stay. Both Radar and Oliver were very easy to care for. Oliver was a little hesitant at first, but loved to be brushed, petted, and liked to chase a laser light around the house (so long as Radar didn’t partake in it, too). Sitters should take care that Oliver would try to escape if given the opportunity and will watch the door if you’re not paying attention. Radar and I bonded quickly. He has a youthful energy and will pogo-jump all the way down to the closest field to catch frisbees in; and he LOVES frisbee. He also enjoyed walking me around his neighborhood, showing me a few hot spots to chase bunnies and his favorite rocks to jump on for treats. He was great on a lead and always checked in with me when we were out. Radar is an active dog, but he also likes to nap throughout the day and loves a good shoulder rub in the evening before bed. There was plenty of space to walk and play frisbee right in the neighborhood, and the neighbors were always friendly and pleasant. There were some great trailheads nearby that Mike showed me. Radar and I had time one morning to loop around the Robert Frost Farm trail twice and it was very rewarding. Radar had a “two roads diverged in a yellow wood” moment, where I literally watched him stop to ponder a fork in the trail before he settled on walking the path less traveled. I was familiar with the trail and how it looped back, so it was okay by me—but I would recommend everyone to know your hike before veering off anywhere (obviously). Mike also provided a nice dog-friendly bug spray for Radar to repel ticks and mosquitos (and we never had a problem). I had a lovely experience with Mike, Radar, and Oliver! It was a pleasure to get to know them.
These two cats are real cuties - lovely apartment walkable to great restaurants and shops, cool area. Generous hosts and really great stay.
