Greg
Walking into this home had a feel good factor as it was open and inviting with wood floors, high ceilings and a nautical theme with model ships and other seaworthy decor patterned throughout. Greg and Lori chatted with us as they graciously showed us around before they went on their trip.
Then in shuffled Henry - commanding my attention - wasting no time in showing me his belly, inviting a good rub which I couldn’t refuse. Margerite showed up later after her wanderings outside and with a few ‘mrrrwows’ from me, we made friends.
Mornings were spent with a cup of tea and toast with Henry and Marguerite on the back veranda overlooking the river behind the home after their morning meals were done.
The walks down by the river in the afternoon were lovely and were also a daily routine with Henry leading, albeit slowly and Margerite following behind.
Evenings were spent in the upstairs bedroom with Marguerite and Henry laying by a lovely gas fire while we watched our fave night time shows.
This was the most relaxed home I’ve been in so far. Even though there was so much to see and discover every time we walked into a room - rather like being in a museum - it still had a calmness to it throughout.
Would most certainly come here again.

Loren
I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SIT

My experience at Loren’s residence was one of the worst experiences I have ever had housesitting. As a housesitting professional going on three years the lack of transparency and lack of professionalism made me highly uncomfortable.

There were three events that happened at Loren’s residence that I believe future sitters should be aware of.

Loren failed to mention that Vita was placed on new medication which made my sit highly unenjoyable because the medication makes Vita in a constant state of hunger which makes her aggressively meow all day.

Next Loren also failed to mention how bad Fender’s behavior is and that he’ll refuse to come inside the house until 12:00am - 2:30am. Loren has described Fender’s behavior via text to be “temperamental and independent.” She did not mention this in the guide. As indoor/outdoor cat he she respond when called home but he doesn’t.

Finally during my stay Loren alerted me that she had rented out one of her rooms via Airbnb while on my stay and felt that I should stay in a space with strangers that I did not know. When I told her I was uncomfortable with this arrangement THREE times Loren was very disappointed in the fact that I said NO. She should not have never assumed that I would be okay with this type of arrangement. I feel very disrespected because after I said no for the third time she began to be resentful in the messages that we shared from then on.

FIRST Loren was not transparent about the medicine her cat Vita was on. Nowhere in her welcome guide does she mention that Vita has meds that need to be taken. I had booked this sit far in advance in which Loren could of told me about this issue and or put this is in the welcome guide. Two weeks before I arrived Vita got placed on a medication that makes her extremely hungry. Everyday for the next 10 days Vita constantly meowed ALL DAY because of the hunger she faced. I work from home and it’s very hard to focus when a cat is constantly meowing. Every time you step in the kitchen Vita comes running and begins to meow aggressively. You can’t feed her too much because of her weight. You also have to wait at least 30-45 minutes between each feeding so Vita can properly digest her food. It got so bad that I began to avoid the kitchen until her feeding time and would sometimes have to place her in a separate room while I cooked dinner. I followed all the instructions in regards to Vita’s feeding schedule but she wouldn’t stop meowing from the time she woke up 7am until she went to bed 9pm.

Fender as described by Loren via text is a “temperamental and independent “cat. This is very important information and is no where to be found in her welcome guide. I was under the impression with the information from the Welcome Guide that he liked his space not that he has a temperamental behavior which once again was not disclosed until she texted me one day. The cats have a door that they use to go through but it shuts until around 6:30pm until the next day around 6:30am. Fender know this schedule but still refuses to come inside. I would have to wait until Fender felt like coming inside. On one occasion he refused to come inside and I stayed up all night worrying about Fender. When I texted Loren she says that it was “strange” that he hasn’t returned home. She never once thanked me for staying up until 2:30am calling for Fender to come home which happened on multiple occasions. He even went missing for a couple of days and no one including the neighbors could get him to come home. I was calling and calling him for days and he was stationed at next door neighbors house hearing me but refusing to come in. If you are to have a indoor/outdoor cat they she respond when called upon not when they feel like coming in.

FINALLY the disrespect that I felt when Loren approached me, telling me she had rented out her spare bedroom that I was currently staying in was beyond anything I have ever experienced. When we spoke on the phone Loren TOLD me she had rented out the room while on my sit and said,”here’s the plan.” She never once thought that I would find this to be uncomfortable and expected me to be on board with her plans. I had to state THREE TIMES that I was highly uncomfortable. She had planned for a cleaner to come Wednesday to clean the room I was staying in for her “potential guests” that would arrive Saturday. When Loren had finally understood what NO meant the rest of my sit and interactions with her were stressful. She was upset that she could not rent her space during my stay and it was highly noticed.

Between the stress, lack of transparency and disrespect I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SIT.

Carola
We loved housesitting for James and Carola! Not only were they kind and considerate hosts, Loopy and Bhora were incredibly well trained and easy to look after. Even though the sit was located well outside of Dunblane, the route into town was still walkable and to drive in was even easier. All-in-all this sit was incredibly fun and we’d love to visit again!

Maria
Maria was a super friendly host right from the beginning, by the end of the video call we felt welcome, excited to house sit and totally at ease.
The home was lovely, clean and extremely spacious, and we really enjoyed the pool on sunny days.
Bonnie was an absolute delight from start to finish. Very gentle and no fuss at all - she loves a long nap after her walks. Bonnie loves company and was never far away from us, which we loved.

Mark
We find ourselves extremely lucky to have been able to meet and take care of Nicola and Mark’s beautiful home and their Swiss Shepherd Willow over New Year’s week.

Willow is an extremely affectionate, energetic, cheerful and intelligent dog and we fell in love with her in an instant. She’s really interactive and interested. She loves your company and absolutely loves playing, running together and being challenged. She has lots of toys to play with and it was very easy to understand what she needs. She loves running in the garden and definitely adores her walks. She is obedient and very friendly with other dogs so it was a pleasure walking her. She’s intuitive and affectionate, and always brightened our day.

Mark and Nicola were very hospitable and helpful hosts. They went out of their way to provide a car insurance for us, and offered to help us get to their place when we were in a pickle due to rail strikes. During our stay it was really easy to communicate with them and they made sure we felt at home and at ease during our stay. They have a beautiful, well cared for and amazingly located house with all amenities one can possibly need. The location is perfect— beautiful countryside with easy transport to/from London.

The true gift was meeting all the family at the end and seeing Willow’s joy at their arrival. We’re really fortunate to have been able to housesit for them and would come back anytime! Thank you Nicola and Mark! ❤️
