I really enjoyed my housesit at Kate’s! Mallow and Lottie were so lovely and I highly appreciate Kate took the time to show me around when I arrived ☺️

Lydia
Lydia was an excellent pet parent! I was able to meet her before the sit to do a key exchange - she gave me a tour of her place, instructions for Princess, and answered any questions I had. She was very communicative throughout the whole sit! Princess is also a very easy going cat and I definitely enjoyed my time bonding with her :) I would 10/10 recommend Lydia’s place to other sitters, and would absolutely be more than happy to house/cat sit for Lydia again.

Michele
Max is like the platonic ideal of a Golden Retriever. He is beyond sweet and social, loves the water, wants to hang out and show you his toys all the time, and is basically just an all around good boy. He is like a local celebrity, and even made the official Golden Instagram page when we took him to the dog park! His care is as straightforward and easy as can be, and Golden is a fairly dog friendly place, so you can take him to patios and downtown shops without much trouble. He is very playful, and LOVES to try and chase rabbits, so watch out for that when he's on leash.

Michele and Ali were super hospitable and friendly. Their house is spacious, clean, and in an easily walkable neighborhood a short distance from downtown Golden. We loved walking Max in the neighborhood before the heat got too intense, or playing with him in the fenced back yard. He loves his ball!

Highly recommend this sit, and we'd be thrilled to return.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Milo and Trixie. Milo is vibrant and loves his food and those back rubs. Trixie is more shy and laid back but when she warms up to you she talks a lot with her meowing and responds to her name when called. They are well trained no accidents 😆 Peanut hides but you'll know he's there when he poops and stains his wheel. As long as they are all well fed and have something extra for later you can enjoy touring North Carolina. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. Overall we had an awesome time!

Anna
Anna asked to meet at her home rather than over video call where she introduced me to her husband Matt, two lovely children, and pets (Barney, Dotti, & Lizzo). Everyone was very welcoming, nice to talk to, and provided me with household & pet tips. During my introductory visit Anna showed me around (including the dogs’ route to the dog park) and went over the animals’ daily routines.

Their home is older and has a very cozy feel to it with a great rear deck overlooking the backyard. The neighborhood is quiet with lots of other friendly dog owners taking their dogs to the park. They had everything I needed for my 5 day sit: bathroom essentials, bedding, and a super stocked kitchen. I appreciated having access to their slow cooker and bought some beans to enjoy their cool coffee/espresso machine. They made room for me in their fridge as I prefer cooking to eating out. A note to anyone who works remotely: WiFi is spotty and I did get disconnected often so rely on cellular data instead. Another note: I housesat near summertime and battled indoor flies on a daily basis. With all doors and windows shut and no matter how many I killed they always got indoors somehow and bothered both me and the dogs. Not sure if most Australian households deal with daily flies in the hotter months.

Lizzo has a simple daily routine & is pretty chill & easy to care for: move to outdoor pen for potty time & 1x/day AM feedings of live crickets, cockroaches and a few leafy greens. Because her food is live, they are also fed every few days. Lizzo enjoyed the outdoors during the day and only wanted to return to her tank after sunset (she would run away if I tried to bring her in too early). The dogs didn’t mind her though Dotti complained because she wanted all of the attention to herself 😂. I found her very entertaining to watch during feeding time; the rest of the day she spent mostly sunbathing.

Barney and Dotti are both very social with both humans and other dogs. They followed me around like Velcro everywhere. They receive 1x/day feedings but love munching away on bones and other animal parts throughout the day. They are a comical pair to watch as they differ greatly in physical stature. They love to play but because Dotti has a physical advantage you have to constantly keep her distracted so Barney doesn’t get frustrated, resulting in a dog fight. They would love cuddles and pets all day, everyday if given the opportunity, and just like with playtime Dotti tries to be an attention hog.

On their daily walks to the park both dogs never fail to take multiple dips into the brook. In between sniffing the area to find places to mark his territory and giving a hello sniff to the other dogs, Barney follows closely behind you while off-leash making him EXTREMELY easy to walk. Dotti has lots of energy and will run in and out of the brook as you walk. She wants to play catch the entire time and will run nonstop circles in front of you waiting for you to toss anything for her to catch.

While on leash both are easy to walk but Dotti will pull you on the way to the park because she’s so excited to jump into the water. After each walk they need to be hosed down, sometimes soaped, and towel dried; both are compliant.

The dogs are allowed on the furniture so if you don’t want to find a pup snoozing on your bed, keep the bedroom door shut. There was a thunderstorm one night & Barney was fine, Dotti was a little more nervous and followed me even more closely than usual.

At the start and end of my sit Anna provided me with a quick ride which was extremely helpful since I do not have a car ❤️

Nicola
I had a video call with Nicola before the sit and she was very warm and welcoming, she made me feel comfortable and at ease about being in her home and looking after her pets. Her pet family are very loving, the cats will sit with you in the evening and Henry the dog is adorable, very calm and well behaved and loves being stroked. Nicola lives in a great location, easy access to Bristol and surrounding areas, especially if you don't have a car, very accessible by train and bus. There are also nice walks around the area for walking Henry and the cats will join in too! Nicola has a lovely, modern home, all mod cons and the bedroom had an ensuite bathroom. I loved house sitting for Nicola and would be very happy to do so again.
