This a beautiful space. Heidi and Ginger were soooo sweet. The pet parents were always available as needed and even encouraged us to eat some delicious tamales. Heidi and Ginger both appreciate lots of company and pets.
If you love dogs, this is the perfect housesit! All three dogs are a delight to spend time with: very well behaved, affectionate, and walking them is such a lot of fun. The property is large enough that you do not need to worry about having the dogs on leads, they just run around and follow you at their own pace. We walked them as often as we could as there is so much to explore in the surroundings. And at night they cuddled by the fire while we watched tv. Bryony and Andrew are very friendly and accommodating. They kindly had us over for dinner the night before their departure and we really enjoyed getting to know them a little better. They were clear in our responsibilities and had prepared some written instructions - which really helped us. The house is really beautiful and the property has lots of wildlife passing by such as birds, deer, and rabbits. We even fed some resident swans every morning! Location-wise, nearby is Gifford, a village with coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. The larger town of Haddington isn't far away. All in all this was a very pleasant experience.
Susan's is a great sit. Her home is lovely, comfortable, and a pleasure to hang out at. And the location is great, withing walking distance of museums, shopping, restaurants, Lake Michigan, and public transportation. We especially appreciated the very comfortable bed and high-speed reliable wifi. The kitties were the real treat, though, just full of fun and very sweet. They aren't lap cats, but they liked to hang out with us and are well-behaved. Ollie needed twice-daily asthma treatments, and even though we had no experience with such things, it went very smoothly as long as we did it when he was in a calm, relaxed state (which wasn't a problem at all). Susan is a very good communicator and left things in excellent order for us. We hope we get to take care of the boys again in the future, it was such a lovely sit.
We really loved our stay at Christina's and Philipp's place in Plauen. They were really welcoming, relaxed and openhearted. Philipp even picked us up from the station. The communication was uncomplicated and everything worked out very well. We had a lot of fun with the animals. Each animal liked to cuddle, but you could also leave them alone for a couple of hours. We enjoyed going for long hikes with Howie. We could also spend hours just observing Neo and Howie playing with each other.The rabbits were also really cute. We have fallen in love with all of them and would love to come back again sometime.
Elle and Kerry were gracious, welcoming and could not have been more generous hosts. It was easy to fall in love with Lilly and Jax. Although a big boy, a very soft and playful personality. Lilly the regal princess was such a delight. This sit is a five star opportunity and we look forward to any future opportunities. If you should ever have a chance to sit Max and Lilly it would be your good fortune!
Fluff is the most affectionate cat I have ever met! He slept all day upstairs but come the evening he was very interested in company and after supper, he curled up in front of the log burner or on the sofa next to me. Part of my responsibility was to feed the wild birds and the feeders were occupied all day with a range of blue tits and a rather greedy woodpecker! A wonderful site to watch. The Old Forge is set in the most spectacular countryside, remote but with plenty of lovely towns and places of interest to visit locally. There was good communication before and during the sit and Tracey provided me with all the information that I needed - feeding routines, recycling dates, use of facilities etc. Thank you 🙂
