We were so happy to have Lindsey look after our home and our well loved fur babies. We had not left our little dog before and due to her care I did not have a moment of worry. Lindsey administered our kitty’s meds as needed, and showered affection on both pets. Seeing them all hanging out together while Lindsey worked from home was very comforting. Lindsey looked after our home and garden, and it was pristine when we returned. Thank you Lindsey, we look forward to having you back!
I’ll start with the pros: Cute pets. Bunnies and the dog, Finley are cute and photogenic. The homeowner was accommodating and took me to the train station upon departure. The homeowner picked me up from my previous sit (30 min away) and took me to the market with her as she needed to shop too. The area was walkable and had a small grocery store a 15 min walk away and was easily accessible by train to Liverpool and Manchester for day visits. The home was generally clean upon arrival and the owner made sure I had coffee pods, creamer and set up an account for me at Tesco. The owner gave permission for my adult daughter to arrive and stay after they left. The dog is generally loving and sweet. However, he is not well trained and acts threatening and aggressive toward you if you put him in his crate. Finley’s an escape artist and must be crated when delivery drivers come. Baby gates are used to control his movements in the house including top and bottom of stairs which is a huge trip hazard. He hates the one lead (halti-lead) that makes him semi controllable and will not willingly be leashed. You have to get him out from his bed as he cowers from it. This sit was not as advertised and should have been a paid housesitting situation. The sit was accepted and numerous meetings by phone in person and calls ensued at which time no clarifying or new information was given to the sitter as to any changes. Even while traveling and at the previous pet sit, I met with the family twice before coming to the home to sit. I was told the rabbits would be housed in the garden and minimal handling would be required when accepting the sit but this changed completely when I was informed of a major change to the arrangement 72 hours prior to arrival. I had no choice but to continue as my daughter’s travel plans and my own were contingent upon this housing arrangement. The 72 hour window left me in no position to secure affordable alternative. The homeowner was an experienced years long owner of rabbits yet waited a full three weeks after knowing of the pregnancy and a full 10 days after the birth of new rabbits to inform the sitter of the pregnancy and subsequent birth of three additional rabbits. Rabbits show signs of pregnancy at two weeks and the babies were 13 days old at beginning of sit per my research. Also, another was thought to be pregnant, necessitating the quarantine of both female rabbits In THE HOME. These new circumstances required a lot of physical contact (eliciting bites) and more intensive cleaning to avoid mess and smell. There were a total of seven rabbits to care for now. I can’t emphasize enough how shocking this was to have been sprung on me 10 days after their birth and almost a full month after homeowners would have known of the impending pregnancy immediately prior to the sit. There was a medium sized Spaniel (Finley) that was hard to control, impulsive and difficult to manage. As said before, extreme caution is needed for aggressive behavior with crating even when only closing and not latching the door. This sit was a traumatizing experience for this sitter because it was essentially a situation where the dishonesty was blatant even if by omission as far as the rabbit care was concerned. When I inquired of the teen daughter why they didn’t tell me, she replied that they were concerned I would cancel the house sit. I was informed of the new situation three days prior to arrival in an international sit. I would definitely have cancelled had I been given the new information. It changed the entire sit to have rabbits IN the house requiring so much handling. I had to purchase gloves to protect myself from further bites. The dog is extremely strong and will pull you down easily. It is unpleasant to walk him as you have to avoid all the neighbors walking their dogs. My daughter walked him only a couple of times as he’s unmanageable on walks if he spots a bird, a cat or other dog. There is no garden so he must be walked within a strict five hour schedule and before bed. He has an otherwise sweet personality though. No accommodations for closet space, drawer space, pantry or bathroom toilet space was given and the house was extremely cluttered which made it difficult. I and my daughter lived out of a suitcase for more than two weeks. This was frustrating and somewhat difficult and definitely unpleasant. The photos of the bedrooms were inaccurate as one bedroom pictured in the advertised sit was not allowed to be used and instead a sofa bed was substituted. The homeowner was lovely and did reimburse me for expenses as she did require purchases for additional rabbit foods and came dangerously close to running out of rabbit nuggets within the day of arrival. The rabbits were supposedly litter trained but one had diarrhea often and cages were difficult and time intensive to keep clean. I would not return to this sit and would recommend the homeowner hire a PAID sitter in the future.
Sitting for Ro and Moose was a joy. Eric and Kathleen were gracious hosts. Communication before the sit and during was great. Expectations were clear. The home is lovely and welcoming, and Moose and Ro are heartwarming. Moose is a ham and an expert puppy-eye con. Ro is independent, but loves a good pet down and to spend close time. I had a wonderful experience and will miss Moose and Ro.
I literally fell in love with Hamish and Koko, they are such loveable pets , its hard not to fall in love with them. I had a fantastic stay in this beautiful house, and I had a great time with Hamish and Koko. They are the most adorable pets ever. Would love to come back as I am missing them so much already. Thank you Arlene for introducing me to Hamish and Koko. They are a joy to look after
I was lucky to have a house-sit in such a scenic area. Karen and Laurence's gorgeous house has wonderful views and is within easy Teddy-walking distance of the Malvern Hills. Teddy was such a sweet companion and knew the way to nearby cafes and the local pub though Karen kindly welcomed me with a folder of suggested close attractions. It's an place with plenty to do and very dog-friendly.
Wonderful people, amazing fluffiness 🐈🐈 in this superb house 🏡 Had an amazing stay on this lovely property!!! Ben and Patrice over spoiled us with all attention and welcomed us to enjoy their 🐈🐈 companions and this modern and smart feature house Easy to take care of Fifi and Juno, with coffee mornings in the outside garden and lots of cuddles in the evenings while watching TV or sharing the bed while sleeping. Very grateful and happy to meet so nice people and have such a pleasant experience for over two weeks Thank you Ben! Thank you Patrice! 🤗😁
We LOVED our stay at Tammy and Ruth’s! To start, they’re super easy to connect with and gave us everything we needed to care for the pets, from a detailed Welcome Guide to printed instructions. We instantly felt like we were sitting for new friends. Molly and Roxanne are also some of the sweetest, most well-behaved dogs we’ve sat for! Both love being around their humans, and Molly especially is a total goofball! It didn’t take long for them to warm up to us, and want to cuddle and play. You’ll wish you had both as your own. Cookie was very shy, but appreciated some pats here and there. Overall, their house is the perfect getaway tucked away in the country. It really felt like a home away from home, with all the kitchen essentials and little luxuries like soaps and lotions (they also run a B&B, so all those details included in a 5-star experience are evident!). If you want to stay in an incredibly comfortable spot with the most lovable pets, you’ll have a great time!! We’d love to sit again in the future.
