Such a stunning base to visit the Lakes and Cumbria from this beautifully converted home.

Made to feel very welcome with a homemade curry by Sandi and Rich the evening before - so we could make sure I had a thorough explanation of home and pet needs

During my stay weather was extremely wet and windy which meant waterfalls could be seen at their best

Lots of great walks close by and Rich had also made up marked good routes on OS map for ideas

Both Winston and Blue were a dream to walk - nothing phased them

Blue loved getting wet and would stride out you would never know she was 10 years old

When you want her to do something gently touch or within view gesticulate as being deaf you need to find other ways to catch her attention

Winnie didn‘t like wind ir thunder we had - so would love extra cuddles to reassure him if bad weather hits in the evenings

This was never a chore both dogs and Bean the cat would all come and settle in the morning or in the evening watching telly. Cuddling was never a chore.

Bean loves to bread and will happily purr and never missed a meal time when the dogs had wet food she didn‘t want to miss out

Future sitters I would definitely recommend the Buttermere circuit and ball chasing on Allonby Beach - the dogs had the best of days

I would heartily recommend a stay here - you will leave a little bit of your heart here in the Lakes when you go.

We enjoyed our visit in Sanibel. This is an A+ house sit. The pets, the house, the hosts were all wonderful. Charlie, the dog, was incredible. We enjoyed her immensely and took her everywhere with us except for the grocery store. The three cats finally warmed up to us. We look forward to returning in April.

We had a very enjoyable 10 days looking after two very sweet characterful cats who were very laid back and easy to care for. Carys and Doug were very friendly and helpful and flow of communication was great throughout. Their house had everything you could ask for to be able to relax and unwind. The street parking is a bit of a first come first serve basis and there quite a few steps to negotiate before you get down to the house however despite being there over a Bank holiday we never had any issues. Truro has an excellent park and ride service and the weekly ticket offer was brilliant and we explored all over and saw more than sitting in a car would . The Cornish weather helped make it a great holiday.

Being our very first housesit we were very excited to meet our host Kate and her very lovable pets. Kate was very warm and welcoming and showed us around her beautiful farm estate where we enjoyed the good life for a few days looking after her very friendly goats, chickens, cats and of course Pablo who were all so well behaved and so fun to be around.
The area is so secluded and tranquil and our lovely cottage was so cosy and a fantastic sun trap!! There was a beautiful wood right next to the cottage and close by beaches where we enjoyed taking Pablo for long walks and the village of Delabole was a very friendly place with a lovely pub that had the best homemade pies ever !! Pablo is such a fun lovable character, a bit bonkers but in a good way he was exceptionally well behaved, well trained and very affectionate and the cats were also very soppy and loving, needing lots and lots of cuddles.
Its was a much needed and relaxing experience in the countryside and we would not hesitate to return to visit the fantastic Pablo and his friends again.
Thank you so much Kate for your hospitality and trusting us to look after your beautiful home and friends.

We are so grateful to have had this chance to housesit (farmsit!) for Melissa and Jeff.  Melissa is incredibly organized and this comes through in everything from the way she communicates to what’s in the kitchen cupboards.  She definitely has a master plan but is also flexible and most of all, very kind and empathetic.  Jeff has a wealth of knowledge of local edible and medicinal plants.  After some time on the land you come to appreciate just how much work he has put into transforming it into a food forest.

The Dogs: Razzy and Alakai stole our hearts from the first day. They have very different personalities—Razzy is adventurous and protective.  He is eager to please and wants to be next to you no matter what you’re doing.  He is a dog’s dog.  Alakai is more independent and clever and it took some time to win him over.  Melissa says he is a cat in a dog’s body. He is affectionate though, and when he needs a cuddle he will come up to you and lightly “knock” on your leg.  Neither is very demanding and they are both very easy to care for because they are getting up there in years and spend most of the time sleeping!

The ‘aina: Melissa and Jeff have such a beautiful spot and their biggest passion is to improve it and share it with other people. After a few days interacting with the systems they’ve set up (chickens, compost, solar, water collection, gardens), you begin to see that it’s a single ecosystem. Almost nothing is wasted and it’s impressive how few things have to be brought in from the outside.  This is a wonderful place to learn to practice sustainability.   After a few weeks away from the farm, we’ve realized how much we learned and how much we already miss it!

Interacting with the farm systems will keep you engaged but it’s a really healthy, fulfilling routine.  We had time for yoga, bike rides and chilling in the hammock.  Farm work wasn’t the hardest part of the stay: the hardest part was not feeding Alakai from the table when he is watching you with his sweet eyes and wagging tail! (He is so cute! )

We are so excited to come back for another stay soon!

Alicia has a beautiful home very close to every you need...BART, grocery, coffee shop, etc. Her dog Leia is a very sweet, smart girl who very much looks forward to her walks! Alicia gave me a map of a 35 minute loop that we did every morning and I highly recommend this route for a good walking workout. I highly recommend this house sit but I also hope she chooses me again in the future! Thank you, Alicia!
