This was my first zeewoi experience, and unfortunately, it was negative and stressful. I had an hour-long discussion with zeewoi to make sure my expectations weren’t out of line, which I was assured they were not. They suggested I register a formal complaint. I was very excited about the prospect of Holly sitting and wanted it to be a win/win, and hopefully have more sits with her… I left her a bottle of wine, a fridge full of food, and welcomed her into my home. Holly said that even though she was living with her boyfriend here in Kelowna, she (1) wanted to some space to herself for the week and (2) wanted to get a review, as she had none, as she wants to travel doing house/pet sitting. Made sense to me. Here are the highlights: - I was very clear about my no-guests policy in my home, which Holly broke daily, not only with her boyfriend but with his two kids. They are strangers to me and my pets, and it was extremely unsettling. She was fully aware of my doorbell and outdoor cameras, because she asked where they specifically were. My dog Hugo doesn’t always do well with strangers at first, esp. men, and when her boyfriend helped settle her in on the day of arrival, Hugo was out of sorts for two days after (completely unlike him). I was heartbroken to hear this. - Once on her own at my home, she had many questions about streaming services, an extra iPhone charger, many about not being able to turn on the IR sauna, which she wanted to use regularly; no questions about the pets. - We agreed on the times she’d be away from the home, which she didn’t honour and was a big problem for me. I had no choice but to organize a dog walker on three separate occasions. She decided last minute she was lonely and upset it was Easter weekend and that she needed to be with her boyfriend to make her feel better, so I was left with the challenge of finding dog walking while she spent long periods of time away from my dogs. There was no rule she couldn’t take the dogs with her. She had their dog car seat. - My pup Strelli had a gash directly below her eye, and Holly had no idea how it got there. - My home was clean when she arrived. Upon my return, I had to clean up after her… It was obvious the toilet was used by more than just her, seriously gross cleaning around it. She didn’t use a single cleaning product while in my home. I felt like Holly was more interested in vacationing in my home than looking after it (and my pets). She even left early the day of my return, and I had to get a dog walker in again. IMO, Holly shouldn’t be house sitting, esp dogs. She has no experience and isn’t transparent about things. Her behaviour was inconsistent and unpredictable. I almost came home early but that proved to be too challenging. I got a friend on alert instead in case it got worse. As all pet owners understand (Holly isn’t one), this isn’t what you want happening to your pets and home while you’re away. It was extremely stressful and overshadowed my entire week away. Lesson learned… make sure there are several positive reviews.
We love Charles and family! They did such a great job of keeping us up to date on everything, and taking care of the pups and house. It's always a good sign when your dogs aren't that excited to see you when you come home :) We are lucky to have been able to leave the house with such caring, responsible folks. They are the best!
Patricia's home was a beautiful spot for a month-long sit. Close to town but felt like the woods. Very safe and quiet. Close to grocery store and the highway. Garden watering and household tasks took about 30 mins a day, then spent lots of time with Sofia the cat! She likes chin scratches and laying around, but I had her on a playtime regime by the end! She loved the attention and exercise. This sit had few challenges due to the July heatwaves and wildfire warnings, but overall a good sit! Thank you Patricia.
I had the most wonderful experience with peppo and all the cats. :). David and makela are both wonderful hosts and the home was quiet and perfect for a peaceful pet sit experience. It was beyond all my expectations!
The stay in Beaufort was great! Beans is a very sweet 12 year old pup. The cottage which I dubbed dolphin cottage is lovely, immaculate and very comfortable. While I was there I visited the local shops and spots in downtown which is literally 5 minutes away. I took my dog Horace and the 2 dogs were great together for walks and no issues with getting along. Host’s Bonnie and Alan are very nice and helpful if I couldn’t find something. They checked in during the week but not overbearing. Overall, it was wonderful to be able to sit for a sweet dog and experience the local community.
October autumnal weather was glorious allowing daily lovely walks with Evey along Chichester Harbour, setting the scene for this well trained puppy. Pippa and David's home was extremely comfortable with a beautiful garden in this quiet corner of West Sussex, convenient for Chichester, the coast and the South Downs. The railway station is a short walk away. A lovely sit in all respects.
Marilee and Lindy have a beautiful home in a quiet area with great walking trail into the park. Their two dogs Auttie and Milo are well behaved and loving and easy to get to know. Both are keen to walk twice a day and also happy to relax either indoors or out by the pool. Our experience with both dogs and hosts enhanced our travels immensely. Thanks for the opportunity
