This sit was a dream! Tonks was the absolute sweetest, and the house was beautiful. Great location in the neighborhood too (:
I had *such* a lovely time in Uppingham at Dan & Esme's home... a morning and an afternoon walk with Louie to the cricket pitch or the sports fields (to play fetch with his Chuck-It :D ), and a midday visit to one of the manor houses dotted around the neighbouring counties (Burghley, Belton, Kirby, Lamport, Grimsthorpe, and Southwell Workhouse. Not to mention Rutland Water, wow!). It was a perfectly relaxed vacation with a canine companion. Their home is perfectly appointed and very comfortable; Communication was excellent... Can't recommend a stay at Dan & Es's with Louie enough!
Ace and Nezuko were a pleasure. Ace at one year old immediately accepted my daughter and me as his companions. He is very affectionate and his soft fur is lovely for cuddling. He showed no signs of distress at his usual family being away for the weekend, though we didn't ever leave him alone since he suffers from separation anxiety if a human isn't with him. He's great in the car, staying in the back seat and did not try to jump through to the driver. We enjoyed an afternoon walking around historic Zurich and took him to the lakeshore to swim a little (on-leash). He's well-mannered on walks, with some pulling on the leash in his excitement which is totally understandable in a young dog. Nezuko is an absolutely beautiful cat. She is fun to watch move around. She also is well-mannered, never bringing out her claws. I was easily able to pick her up when needed, when she seemed to be contemplating a jump from the 5th floor porch. I did keep a close eye on her while out on the porch and did not leave the windows open to the point where she could get out. Ace and Nezzie have a playful relationship which is fun to watch. The hosts are warm and interactive. Their home is modern, uncluttered, clean and comfortable in a newer collection of apartment blocks. The wifi is good. The views over the town to the hills beyond are lovely. Zurich is a bit of a commute in, but Winterthur has it's own charms and is a good sized town (the 6th largest city in Switzerland). There are wonderful trails right from the apartment past farms and into the forest, with some distant views of the alps on a clear day. One piece of advice is to practice the front door lock with the hosts if possible before they head out, it took some wrangling to figure it out. Overall, a great sit with wonderful animals and hosts in lovely calm surroundings.
Esk is a very well behaved dog and a delight to look after She enjoys company and is very easy to look after Judy is a lovely lady who made me very welcome into her lovely home I highly recommend this house sit
Steve and I had a great time sitting at Sue and Nick's comfortable home. Pepper the dachshund was a real sweetie and quite comical when being stubborn 😄 Poppy the cat took his meds like a trooper and was quite affectionate on his own terms. Once we got our heads round the fish laying motionless and playing dead, they were no trouble either 🤣 Their home is situated in a lovely area with lots of places to visit and good walks to be had. We wouldn't hesitate recommending to other sitters.
I really enjoyed staying at Abi’s house and looking after Jazzy. Jazzy is absolutely no trouble at all. She does her own thing during the day, but always came to sit on my lap in the evenings. The house is in a great position for both urban and country pursuits. There is a path 5 minutes from the house that takes you into the city centre in one direction and to the Peak District the other way. I walked and cycled into the Peak District several times during my stay, which was especially stunning in August because the heather was in bloom. If you don’t feel like walking into Sheffield, there are regular buses. The botanical gardens are not far, and are beautiful. There are also lots of cafes nearby, although because I was staying during Covid, I didn’t get a chance to sample all the delights of the city.
