We are so so sad that our time here has come to an end. We love those kitties so much. They each have such distinct personalities and routines and I feel like I bonded with them both in different ways. They made me laugh a lot and it was such a nice way to bring in a new year. Cucumber is definitely a little attention seeker. She loves affection and would always curl up when I was sitting on the couch or laying in bed so she was tight up against me for hours. She’s very very food motivated but she doesn’t complain if you have to put her downstairs for an hour so that Beau can eat in peace. Every single morning when Adam woke up he would use the restroom and open the door to the hallway and Cucumber would be on the colorful hallway carpet, spinning and twirling and being as cute as possible. Basically screaming “You’re awake, now come love me”. It made him laugh every time and she’d, of course, get her way. Beau took a little longer to warm up, but by the second week she was sleeping with me, too. Everything is very much on her own terms though, so I only gave her affection when she wanted it (usually when she’s hungry and she’d keep rubbing on my legs and walking through them haha). She’s so tiny and sweet and I’m glad she warmed up to me during the stay so that I could spend time with her, too. Her eating routine is funny and can span the course of a couple of hours, during which time she’ll eat, go to the bathroom, eat again, go to the bathroom again, sit on her chair, maybe fall asleep, then eat again, before I would finally see that she’d eaten a decent amount, put her food in the fridge and let Cucumber come back upstairs. Victoria is great and the house is in a very cool area. Parking was never an issue, there’s a grocery store 2 blocks away and getting on the highway takes maybe 5 minutes. The home is so colorful and cozy. I’d stay there with the kitties anytime,
Staying with George and Mouse, the dogs, Mr Jingles, the cat, and the hens, Violet, Thelma and Louise, was a fun few days. George is a HUGE cuddle bug and extremely patient, while Mouse, at 16 weeks old, is just learning about the wonders of life. Mr Jingles is easy to care for and loves teasing Mouse. While the hens weren't giving us eggs, they still came out to say hello. The house is very warm and welcoming. The shower is excellent. We both found the bed comfortable. The house is very clean and beautifully furnished. Philippa and Ross were amazing hosts. They fed us a delicious dinner the night before they left and we enjoyed getting to know them. Communication before and throughout the sit was excellent. When they suddenly found themselves with a new puppy, Mouse, they immediately let us know so we had the option of staying with him or not. Of course, we stayed with him! What's not to love about a puppy!! We whole heartedly recommend this sit! Did I mention George is a HUGE cuddlebug?!!
We had the best 4 days looking after little Ravioli and his two kitty sisters, Bea and Estelle! Ravi is an absolute sweetheart, he loves treats, tennis balls, and snuggles. He has a beautiful staffie smile but isn't as high-energy as other staffies since he's had some knee problems. Bea and Estelle were both super independent and all three of them got along well. Jen's place is adorable and has some epic views! We loved Horseshoe Bay. There are lots of little shops nearby to check out. Jen, thank you so much for having us in your beautiful home and trusting us with your babies. We loved every minute of it :)
Christine was a wonderful communicator. Her home was peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable and her garden was a little bit of heaven. The cats were easy and friendly and affectionate. A very pleasant stay!
Sara's location provides easy access to Library of Congress, Cap Hill, National Mall and other key DC sites. She is on a quiet street in an extremely walkable neighborhood with grocery and restaurants nearby. Felt like there was a park every few blocks and lots of other friendly pooches. Stars got excited the second you touched the leash and was a great walking companion. He enjoyed presence and could be found hovering nearby by while you were cooking, or a hands length away, curled up beside you on the couch. His lively energy makes you smile. Sara provided detailed pet care notes and we touched base a couple of times while she was away. This is a great sit for someone who enjoys urban exploration and long walks.
Lori and her sweet pups were such a pleasure to meet and sit for. Both dogs were easy to care for and very sweet. Oscar can be little timid starting out but he becomes your best pal very quickly. Lori’s home is beautiful, comfortable and in an awesome location near great hikes, views, and food & bev. We miss the pups already and would absolutely sit again.
