I had a wonderful stay caring for Beau in Pacific Grove. The house is comfortable, and in a fabulous location with easy access to the main attractions. Peter and Marie explained everything I needed to know about the house and their cat's needs. Beau is very cuddly, and I loved having him near me with a cup of tea, a book and a beautiful view of the coast ! I totally recommend this sit and I would definitely do it again :)
Deb has a great little place in the heart of Cotocachi which we visited in November. She’s got a detailed house manual and the babies are on a regular schedule which makes the responsibility easy! Lucy is a senior so she has a few special needs that Deb clearly spells out. We enjoyed these little angels as well as the town itself. Communication was ever present and can recommend this sit !
Kathi is such a lovely, considerate person. Her flat was in the midst of building work when I came to stay - through no fault of Kathi's - but she made things as easy as possible for me, including giving me the option to pull out if I felt uncomfortable. She was upfront and empathic about everything and I deeply appreciated that. She was also extremely responsive when I needed anything or had any questions. Dotty is a dream. She can be demanding and is quite strong so if you're not good with bigger dogs and willing to dedicate a lot of time to her, this is not the sit for you. If you are okay with that, however, Dotty is the sweetest, smartest, loveliest companion and you'll have a very hard time saying goodbye. The area is beautiful with lots of parks, shops and restaurants. I even found myself a little park-going community. And Dotty is great on public transport - not on escalators so you have to be strong enough to carry her on those - and we would often go on the overground to Hampstead Heath and on other adventures out and about. It was a joy. Thanks, Kathi.
OMG! This was such a fantastic stay. Julianne was so thoughtful, communicative, and we really felt take care of by everything she prepared for us in advance. As for Mr. Meow and Little Cat... they stole our hearts immediately! Such an adorable pair, and once they warm up to you, there's nothing better than their snuggles and silliness. We loved our time here, and would 100% sit for them again!
Kristen was a fantastic host, and gave us everything we needed to take care of Benny and her home. She was very responsive, answered all our questions, and made us feel prepared to sit for Benny and make sure he was a happy cat during our stay.
Our 6 month house and pet sit for Amanda and Martin will remain one of the most memorable of our European house sitting experiences (and we have had many over the past three years!). Martin and Amandas’ 164 acre property is stunning with native forest to explore and a large lake providing respite and nesting opportunities to many species of birds and animals. The fields of wheat and hay are farmed and it was exciting to experience the rotation of planting and harvesting and being surrounded by French agriculture in all its forms. The views from the ridge on which the main house and cottage stand are beautiful. The snow capped Pyrenees in winter transform to a lush green mountains and valleys in spring and summer. The surrounding villages and countryside are perfect to explore on bikes or by walking . Lots to do in this respect with plenty of maps available to guide your journeys. Martin and Amanda are a warm and welcoming couple who provide a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom cottage for house sitters. I will miss this cottage! A well equipped kitchen, warm and cozy lounge with wood burning fire, 2 sitting rooms for reading and relaxing (we did yoga in one) plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. The 400 year old oak tree at the back door under which we enjoyed many meal, provides great shade in the warm summer months. The views from the cottage windows take in the surrounding property, forest and garden. However, the highlight of our stay was Amanda and Martins’ 2 dogs, Sapphire and Blackberry. Such gentle well behaved pets each with a great personality. They quickly became our friends as we wandered the property, did gardening, maintained and swam in the pool. They are very content at their home and do not need to leave the property. When we ventured out for the day or for lunch and/or dinner in one of the surrounding villages, Sapphire and Blackberry were happy to be left in the “big house” or in the cottage with its secure backyard. The garden and lawn are easy to maintain as ride on mowers and gardening equipment are all provided. For future house sitters, a vegetable garden near the cottage produces tomatoes, cucumbers , herbs , capsicums etc. A range of herbs to use for your cooking also grow in the cottage gardens. Amanda and Martin ensured that we had a few days away each month to explore the Pyrenees,Spain, the Mediterranean coast and south to Biarritz. The Gers region has so much to offer! There are many small restaurants and amazing bakeries in both the villages and larger towns close to the property. We highly recommend this sit ( particularly for a long term stay) and hope to return in the future. A real French experience ! Enjoy!
