I cannot give a positive review to this sitter. She called after her first night here, and said she couldn't stay because she didn't sleep well. It was highly disturbing and disconcerting being out of state 1 day on vacation, and getting this call. Our dog seemed to be experiencing some separation anxiety. Anti-anxiety medication (that is widely used and known) was immediately provided after we heard of the situation. Our dog slept better after she gave the medication. However, she then told us after staying just 3 out of the 8 nights we were away, that she could "no longer stay overnight" with our dog after she said he barked a few times in the night but slept much better. We were left completely in a lurch with our dog left alone. She then offered to stay elsewhere and "come by 2 times a day to feed him if we don't have anyone else." We were shocked and it totally disrupted our family vacation. If we had someone here who wasn't too busy to watch him, we wouldn't need to rely on this site. Three months prior, we had sitters for a 3 week period. They had no trouble at all with Moose. He doesn't regularly take the calming medication, but for some reason, didn't respond well to this sitter. We even made special accommodations for her by providing organic cleaning supplies and washing the linens in unscented, chemical free wash that we purchased at her request. If your pet may experience any separation anxiety, I can't recommend this sitter. People should have peace of mind while they are away, which I think is part of the purpose of this site. Not being able to stick out the entire sit because you aren't sleeping well or happy with giving medication to help calm an anxious pet, is unacceptable. Worst of all, she refused to cancel the sit on the 3rd day when she said she couldn't stay any more nights. The only way to get the insurance money to pay someone else if this situation happens to you, is for the sitter to cancel. The welfare of the pets should be the top priority of sitters. To say we were disappointed is a great understatement. I hope no one else has this distressing experience.
