Gizmo might actually be the best cat on earth. Anyone that gets to care for him in Diana and Tom’s home is very lucky!

Caryl
Where to even start with this unique pet/house sit and location… From the get go Caryl and Tom were clear, and frank communicators about the needs of the sit and some likely challenges we could face. Both Caryl and Tom were extremely cordial, welcoming us into their house a day in advance to get a lay of the land and a feel for their lovely critters Charlotte and Theo. They familiarized us with the pets, house and systems, neighborhood, and several local contacts we now regard as friends who ended up being instrumental in our comfort and success on this sit! Caryl and Tom thoroughly prepared us for an impending Montana winter, including sharing some outdoor gear that kept us warm in sub zero temps. Both made us feel truly at home and paved the way for us to get a Christmas tree (Julia’s first real fir!). They were easy to reach throughout our stay, providing great assistance when the massive winter storm that swept across the US inevitably froze the water pipes. Their preparedness and network made it a relatively easy week to manage, and were helpful guiding Jeremy through getting the system going again after the thaw when plumbers were still slammed.

The pets: Charlotte is an absolute sweetheart but will take time to warm up - a few days for Julia and a few weeks for Jeremy, as she prefers women. She's lovely, but not a cuddler. That said, we would be remiss to say it makes it all the more satisfying when she does eventually welcome the passing head pat, post walk affection, or the way she will start to follow you around in a bid for companionship. And if you are lucky enough to get this pup out in fresh snow HANG ON! You can literally see her joy overflowing as she bounds through snow drifts, chases down deer trails, or ‘bluff charges’ you in mock aggression. Theo the cat, we were warned, was the jokester of the crew and he didn’t disappoint. Affectionate and happy to remind you it's breakfast time, Theo is full of personality! He’s prone to cuddling up to you in bed and plotting against the birds on feeders during the morning inside before spending a few hours outside. When we would walk Charlotte, Theo would sometimes stay about 20 yards away and “stalk” us throughout the whole walk before jumping out at us and trying to get Charlotte to playfully lunge at him.

The house: If you’re lucky enough to pet sit Charlotte and Theo be ready to be housed in a custom built cliffside home overlooking Flathead Lake. The views are absolutely breathtaking and almost distracting throughout the day. We enjoyed many a day lounging over a book enjoying the sweeping views often interrupted by passing bald eagles with the wood burning fireplace crackling in the background - with kindling and wood we got to chop ourselves! The kitchen is well laid out with lake views to boot. And then there's the hot tub on the deck where we enjoyed many soaks under the stars with the moonlit Mission mountains clearly visible miles away.

Upon their return we had a great meal with Caryl and Tom and look forward to the opportunity to watch their lovely pets and house again. Both are full of stories of the local history, politics and perspectives borne from lives well lived.

Bridget
We had a great time at Bridget’s lovely home in Bellingham. Her cute little purple house is so comfortable! And it’s located in a great residential neighborhood with all the services nearby. We had nice warm summer weather during our visit and we spent hours relaxing in her backyard – wow! There is a large private deck that looks onto a green oasis. We felt like we were in paradise! Her cute cat Ittlebit is a real sweetheart who loves to be brushed (especially when she’s eating!) and to hang out near people. She’s an easy and pleasant feline companion. If you like biking, Bridget’s home is a perfect home base to explore Bellingham by bike. Bridget is a very considerate host. We highly, highly recommend a sit here and hope you enjoy it as much as we did. We sure hope to have the opportunity to stay with Ittlebit again!

I absolutely loved staying with Rosie during this week. Her family was super responsive, really lovely, and gave really clear instructions. She is a sweet dog and much loved. I would definitely stay with her again.

Jen
Jen is a wonderful house owner and host, who does not only makes sure you feel welcome, but also provides you with all the information needed before she leaves. Her guest room is actually the master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. Add to that an underground (picadilly line) and overground station (Acton South) nearby, and a Sainsbury in the building itself, and there you have a perfect place for any house sitter. From her house it is only 10 minutes to Kew Garden and 15 to Richmond, both wonderful places to visit.

Poppy is a lovely cat, who really enjoys your company and greets you when you get up or get home. She is not a lap cat, but will show her affection to you by laying next to you on the couch or sleep in your vicinity. We had some wonderful times sitting on the balcony together, each on our own stool.

Add to that the interesting conversations with Jen, and here you have a very recommended housesit!
