This was an absolutely incredible sit! We started off with a video call to get to know each other long in advance before the sit dates and on arrival we were given a full tour of the house, they explained everything in detail plus had printouts of everything we needed to know - walking route maps included. Rixt and Pein were very accommodating and were happy to share everything with us, electric bicycles, walking boots, even the car if needed, they were extremely welcoming and kind. Their home is lovely, it was very warm (as the sit was during the winter period) and we had everything and anything we needed. It was a breeze to communicate with them during the sit and they always got back to us promptly and efficiently. Ozzie will be missed dearly, she is such a good dog and very well trained. She is very affectionate and loves to be next to you at all times, she even came up to sleep with us at night on the last few days. Walking with her is also a lot of fun, she is a curious little one and when off the lead she behaves so well, she is also friendly with all dogs she meets. Apie is a bit quiet as she is a lot older, she spent most the time downstairs sleeping but would also come up to join us in the living room in the evening hours, she is very calm and so sweet too, she loves to get a good petting before she heads off to bed again. We could not recommend this sit more and we feel very lucky to have met Rixt, Pein, their son Kick too and of course Apie and Ozzie, if more sit dates become available in future we would be highly tempted to apply again. So many wonderful things to say about this experience.. Farid and Amy were beyond welcoming and made me feel right at home. Loki is the sweetest pup, he loves sticks and human companionship & he was my best friend during my stay. He’s great in the car, I loved to bring him along while going on grocery runs. I will forever deeply cherish the memories I have, down in the arroyo, just Loki & me! The cats each have their own personality & I enjoyed getting to know them throughout my stay. They gently woke me every morning just before sunrise, which was a gift because the view is spectacular & not to miss! I got snowed in (I’m a homebody so this was absolutely not an issue for me 😆) due to the lack for 4 wheel drive on my end, I would recommend having 4 wheel drive if there is snow or rain in the forecast. However, I’d make the drive again in my car because this experience was soul nourishing & worth every bit! Thank you to this sweet family of 6 for being so kind & offering me their wonderful home!
