Jane is not a recommended petsitter if you have cats or if you want the house to be treated properly when you are away. 1) When she arrived the day before our departure, she didn’t show any interest in the cats, I had to suggest her several times to interact with the kitties in order to make sure the cats were used to her smell. 2) She acted in a superior attitude when I was giving instructions about how to feed the cats or understand their routines. 3) Since the moment we posted the sit offer, we were clear about the simple tasks: feed the cats 3 times a day, play with them, brush them, keep the house safe and clean, inform twice a day about what the cats ate with photos and videos. Her level of communication was minimum by whatsapp. Example of messages “Nala has not appeared yet this morning”, “not much to report”, “everyone has eaten well”, “all well fed”, “too busy feeding, taking pictures and answering your texts” 4) When we arrived the house was dirty (her bathroom had not been cleaned at all, she had not vacuumed nor mopped the floor, the kitchen was sticky) the basic rules of the house were cleaning the floor, kitchen (to avoid ants) and I specified the products to clean bathroom/toilet before leaving. The minimum ALL petsitters had done in the past before leaving were cleaning the basic areas. 5) Two windows were unlocked, when safety issues were explained as a main concern. The biggest window with access from the street was not locked with the screw (anyone could have entered the house) and the window of the guest room was not locked with the handle 6) She never sent a message after leaving the house making sure everything was ok and telling us if the cats were ok. Conclusion: We could clearly see she doesn’t like animals, especially cats, she came just to have a free place to visit the area (which is a very touristic place, mainly this time of the year, when the accommodations are really expensive), she had a bossy attitude and was clearly annoyed by our explanations of how to take care of the cats and house, her communication was not fluid (I had to send a message asking her how were the cats almost every day in order to get feedback), she was a person that clearly did not care about the basic level of cleaning. The only thing she did was feeding the cats at least once a day. When we arrived the cats were really hungry.

It was such a lovely first experience in the platform! The whole family is a charm and and I very grateful with them for trusting me their furry ones and their artsy home. I will remember my walks with energetic Bláithín to The Hermitage Braid (what a beautiful place!) and Violet’s soft meows and pretty face and Toothless taking all my kissing and hugging 😂.
Thank you Alice and Neil for being so welcoming and attentive!🙏🏾

We absolutely adored our stay at Valerie’s and Didier’s place and had some fantastic days taking care of Iago and Bianca. Communication was very easy and detailed from the start, and we got clear instructions on everything we needed to know when we arrived. Iago was lovely from the first minute, a very friendly, uncomplicated and super cute dog who is happy to come with wherever you go and loves his walks. But he is also very happy to be at home and in the garden as long as you keep him company. The house is beautifully located in a small village and easily reachable from Brussels. The whole atmosphere is super comfortable and made us feel right at home from the very beginning. We really enjoyed spending time in the garden, walking Iago through the quiet fields and forest, and getting a break from Brussels for some days.

We definitely hope to come back sometime!

We didn’t get to meet the family before they headed off for their holiday, instead we were greeted by a lovely neighbour and introduced to Wicket, Treacle, Mighty and Pineapple. Hannah was always available to answer any questions via WhatsApp. Wicket took about 10 minutes of us ignoring him before he accepted us as his friends in the absence of his family. All of the animals were loving and excellent company. Mighty, with his Siamese genes, being the most talkative. Willow gets extremely excited at the first sign that a walk might be happening. He is hilarious-very bouncy and makes some great noises. He does respond to clear instructions and kindness. The dogs were very well behaved off the leads through the fields and their recall was brilliant when we wanted them back on their leads when needed. Wicket’s sheepdog intelligence was evident and both dogs responded well to instructions. There are lots of public footpaths and fields to enjoy straight from the house. The area is really beautiful and Minchinhampton is a delightful, historic town with two pubs, a cafe and little shop for groceries. Nailsworth is only a short drive from the house and is well worth a visit. Stroud is a little further but has a great range of shops and is a lovely bigger town.
We slept really well in the fabulously comfortable super king size bed. The kitchen was very well equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed cooking there. We met the family on their return from their holiday and they were all delightful. It was really lovely to sit for them.

I had a lovely stay at Ali’s house in Penicuik with Fin 😊

I was grateful that Ali let me bring my own dog with me too 🙏 It’s a learning experience for me, and in hindsight I would take more care to ensure Fin’s mood was not affected by my dog invading his space (and toy box!) Aside from doggy possessions though Fin was happy to have us there, he was affectionate and chill 😎

I felt very welcome in the house, a lovely and comfortable place to spend time in. The nearby walks are absolutely stunning and very convenient, definitely worth the visit.

Communication with Ali was great and she was very considerate of the fact I didn’t drive and drove over to us, to have the dogs meet beforehand. A great experience overall!
