What a wonderful sit this was! We’d been searching for somewhere special to spend Christmas and when this opportunity popped up we just knew it was the one. Steph and I sent several messages and chatted on the phone prior to the sit and I have to say that even before arriving she already felt like a friend! Between the information she gave me on the phone and the welcome pack we were well prepared for the sit with very few questions at all. We arrived a day early so that Steph and Russ could show us around. On the first evening we had a cup of tea and a good chat but the sit instructions were so straightforward so most of the time was spent getting to know each other. They gifted us some vegan goodies which was so thoughtful and went towards our Christmas feast! They kindly put us up in a different building that night and from the morning of the sit we transferred across to their home. What a cute and quirky place! Steph had told me prior to the sit that the home was heated exclusively by a log burner but not to worry as it gets very warm. She wasn’t wrong, it was wonderful and yes Steph I did end up in shorts and T-shirt on more than one occasion! Our sit was very relaxing because there really wasn’t much to do. The house had everything we could need and Steph had cleared some space for our belongings as well as making sure there was plenty of space in the fridge. Beautiful Junior was the easiest cat ever to look after. Such an independent boy but he loves to have you around. He spent the days out doing cat things or just sleeping. He was always ready for food and would become very talkative if he was hungry. If we got up in the night he would try to tell us that it was breakfast time but we didn’t fall for it!! He loved a fuss and most nights he slept at the end of the bed, he really was great company. The chickens were really sweet. Caring for them was very simple as they were in ‘lockdown’ due to bird flu. We basically had to change their water, check their food and give them some corn each day. We did try to give them a fuss with varied results, some being happier about it than others! The location of the house is very private yet close enough to others so as not to feel isolated. The stunning views of the sea are breathtaking and in warmer weather can be enjoyed from the balcony accessed directly from the house. It’s a great base to go walking from and with a car you could easily reach anywhere on the Isle of Wight. At the end of our sit we had tagged an extra day onto our stay before heading home as I have family on the Island that I wanted to visit. Steph and Russ kindly offered for us to stay another night with them. We didn’t as had already organised alternative accommodation but what a lovely gesture! We left before they arrived home but sweet little Junior sat in the window to see us off! It actually made me sad as I’d built quite a bond with him and missed him when we got home. He really is a lovely boy. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this sit to others. It’s a unique and special place. We’re already in the process of making plans to return in the summer and will definitely be making use of the outdoor bathtub when we do! Thanks for having us love Cally &Tracey xxx
Dali, Lexi, and Emma are a trio of love! They were a playful and fun bunch to spend a week with. Buttercup is a mellow cat and watched the chaos! Tiffany has a warm, inviting home and backyard. I would highly recommend this family of pups and kitty!
We enjoyed a fabulous stay and Fiona and Robin couldn't have been more courteous and hospitable, welcoming us to a family dinner. The house is an architectural gem wonderful high ceilinged rooms and entrance hall with a grand staircase but also, thank goodness, very warm! Jane enjoyed playing the rare grand piano, i exhausted myself cavorting around the gym and tennis court. Shame it was winter or we could have been splashing around in the swimming pool that's at the heart of the idylic walled garden. And we loved the dogs, both great characters, adorable, a joy to be with! And there's a huge super duper kitchen with Aga and tons of kit and gadgets to enjoy. Thank you so much!
This has been one of my favourite sits. Catherine ‘s house is comfortable and located in a beautiful part of Rome : Trastevere. It is close to many interesting spots and easy for transports. Catherine is a generous host that welcomed me warmly and communications has been easy and smooth. But the most important thing is that Atticus and Renee are two adorable fellows ! Very different personality but both very good boys ! It has been really nice to stay with them and yes they do love treats !!!! Thank you Catherine for this occasion and I will be glad to come again in the future. I recommend this sit to everybody !
Staying at Hannah`s home was a delight. The home was warm and comfortable and in a great location for a great many different walks. Hannah prepared us some lunch and cooked an evening meal which she left for us to enjoy after they had left. The wildlife on the doorstep was amazing from owls to Woodpeckers in the garden. The cleaner and gardener were great people and also spoke very highly of Hannah. Finn, what a wonderful dog he is, full of fun but also very loving and loyal. We purchased a few little items for him to play with as we felt that we really wanted to spoil him whilst we looked after him for 4 weeks. We would recommend this house sit to anyone that likes long walks with a lovely dog in a comfortable home. We would be very happy to sit for Hannah again in the future.
Debra's place was great! Coquito is a very go with the flow dog. If we wanted to go for a long walk he was up for it, and if we wanted to snuggle on the couch he was right in the middle. Oscar mostly slept in his bed all day so he was very easy. Willis had the cutest mews and would take as much attention as you could give which was perfect for Connor and I. We made sure to spend time in the basement with her everyday to get the kitty love we had been missing too. So glad we were able to spend time with this furry family.
