What do you do when a day or two before your sitters arrive from half-way around the world (Malaysia to Palm Springs, CA), you have a "slab leak" in your home? That is, a pipe fails in the concrete foundation (no basement or cellar) and you come home at 11 PM one night to a flood in your kitchen and adjoining guest bed and bathroom. You also find out the flood has soaked the kitchen cabinets, the drywall, insulation, and the carpet in the guest bedroom where your sitters are supposed to stay. What do you do? You shut off the water to the home, get the plumbers out first thing in the morning thinking it'll be fixed, but it's more serious than that. So you contact your sitters and Zeewoi. You tell them what happened but they are literally at the airport about to board a 20 hour flight. I'll tell you what Heather and Howard did. They understood that stuff happens and their concern was for our dogs, our home, our upcoming vacation and all that was tied up in the few weeks they were going to be in our home. They were made the best of it and flew out and set themselves up in an alternative (hotel or AirBnB - I don't recall). They kept in touch and conveyed a sense of humanity and understanding that is all too rare today. It was too late to cancel the sit because by the time we figured out we had to do that, it couldn't be cancelled. Therefore, I'm leaving this somewhat unorthodox 5-star review of two wonderful souls, with big hearts, who didn't actually get to stay in our home. On the bright side however, I think we've formed a bond or friendship over this situation and we'll be seeing them in Palm Springs when they are back in a week or two. Don't hesitate to use Heather and Howard to take care of your home or fur kids. A person's true character surfaces in moments of crisis, and their true character is golden.
Anastasia was terrific… flexible, organised, friendly, loving to my dogs. My flat was perfectly clean when I returned. She did two sits for me and was great at both!
