Chiara and her partner Fer were wonderful hosts! From meeting us at the train station, to giving us a full house tour, providing a list of fun things to do, and communicating frequently via text, they made us feel so welcome. Chiara’s home is a Swiss dream— very comfortable, clean, and modern, with lots of light and plants… and a miraculous view of the mountains!

We watched their two fur babies, Scarlet and Rascal for 6 weeks, and had such a fun time getting to know them. Rascal lived up to his name— he was quite the acrobat, loved playing, and was super friendly and loving. His sister, Scarlet, was more reserved and preferred interacting on her own terms, but gradually warmed up to us, treating us to some snuggles on the couch and figure 8s around our legs, especially if food or coffee was involved. We miss them a lot, and fondly look back at all the photos and videos we took — which now occupy a good chunk of our photo roll. 😂

We also loved staying in Biasca. For us, it was a wonderful escape from a big city. Quiet, picturesque (literally every photo you take looks like it belongs on a postcard), and wonderful access to the outdoors. Tons of adventures (big and small) await, from the walk to the waterfall, to nearby grottos, rivers, alpine lakes, mountain hikes, funiculars and cable cars, wineries, and soccer matches— there was no shortage of things to do, all easily accessible via car or public transport.

It is helpful if you speak at least a little Italian! We used this as an opportunity to beef up our meager Italian skills, and it was a fun adventure. Everyone was kind and patient with us, and by the end of our trip we were much improved :)

This was such a special summer, made even more special by spending time with two new furry friends, and meeting Chiara and Fer, two very cool, amazing, and warm folks who we would gladly house and pet sit for again in the future!

Essential 30 minute daily walk around the fairground field and short walk late afternoon.

Both senior dogs Max and Holly keep a slower steady pace to locate the new smell and must be inspected.

Upon return home and mostly sleeping for day.

Both Dogs know the required feeding times by verbally telling you these times plus requesting their treats, then head to bed again. Always keep the water bowls filled.

All essential points of contacts where listed in the handover package. Status reports on Max & Holly required every 4 days.

House is easy to keep tidy, functional and close by walking to basic service in town.

Lovely host, Kim, friendly,generous, kind hearted and welcoming.

I want to say thank you;
For choosing me, trusting me to care for delightful Charlie, Pippa and handsome boy Elfie. Thank you for keeping in touch with me throughout your trip and for always being at the end of the phone. For picking me up at the station and making your car available, for welcoming me into your comfy home and for your amazing hospitality.

As the song goes, these are a few of my favourite things;
Charlie, Pippa, loving , amusing and charming ……… a truly cuddly pair ❤️. Elfie, your gorgeous lucky black cat, the sweetest boy 🥰. Your fabulous garden, filled with pretty flowers and butterflies…….. making the perfect view from the guest bedroom. Walking the Red Zone with Pippa and Charlie…….. not to mention New Brighton beach only a ten minute drive away. Charlie and Pippa the perfect companions for a nearby trip to Lyttelton…… perfect pooches on the ferry to tranquil Diamond Harbour.
Indulge yourself at the Riverside market, or enjoy a dreamy coffee in the blissful Botanic Garden …….. explore all that the Botanic garden has to offer on the daily hosted complimentary guided walk. Be sure not to miss the Sunday afternoon musical performances in the garden.
Step back in time in the Lumiere Cinema at the Arts Centre ( free parking too) stylish and decadent with best independent movies you can find. Don’t leave the Arts Centre without sampling their delicious fayre and quickly locally sourced treasures.
Push back your bed time to explore Christchurch gallery, open until 9pm on Wednesday’s …….. parking made simple too.

Jackie’s comfy home and adorable pets are a no brainer. I did this sit with my sister and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Communication before the sit was great. She very kindly picked us up from the station, warmly welcomed us into her home and showed us around before leaving. We had the guest bedroom to ourselves which had everything we needed including a little fan (thanks Jackie!) Her little attention to detail like this (and clearing a freezer drawer for us) was appreciated!
Home has a lovely deck out back where we soaked in the sun. Weather was the cherry on top as we got straight days of sunshine and warmth to enjoy the sea town! The home is also easy to maintain. It’s on a nice quiet street, shops and the beach 10 mins walk away. The bus stop was a min away with buses running every 10 mins. I dont have a car so this was perfect!
The cats are darlings! Boots we spent more time with than Ronnie, loads of cuddles and constant following us around. She would jump into my sister’s lap anytime she was stationary. Ronnie is the active one and a great fly catcher 😅 He took a day or two to warm up. Both easy to take care of, good eaters and love their water!
This was my longest sit on this platform and I’m pleased it was Jackie’s home. I’ll come back in a heartbeat!

A enjoyed a wonderful stay. The cats were easy to care for, quiet and affectionate. The cottage was characterful, comfortable and clean. It’s in a perfect location with a 10 minute walk to the shopping area and to the start of the South West Coastal Path. Lisa spent an hour with me at the beginning of the sit ensuring a successful sit. She also had a Welcome Guide and local maps for me to refer to. Would highly recommend to anyone who would like to explore the area.
