Oscar, Junnie, and Terry invited us to their lovely home and treated us like honored guests, making for a seamless and memorable sit 💛
“Oscie” was the most well-behaved and absolute cutest pet-host ever!! He is smart, calm, obedient, quiet, and snuggly, making our time with him a joy. His routine is super simple and easy to manage. He loves crunchy veggies for a snack & listens well to routine commands during feeding time like “sit, wait & go.”
The home is impeccably decorated with tasteful vintage pieces and various antiques throughout the space. Our private balcony beckoned us to an amazing day every morning. The perspective from that level is indescribable and must be seen to be believed. Oscie slept in our room with his bed in the corner & was the best company. He doesn’t mind sleeping in some days as his routine is flexible. He is is simply the best boy ever! We adored spending time with his sweet personality.
The sounds of peregrine falcons were a constant reminder of the rarefied air and elevated altitude. Watching the white-bellied sea eagles frequently fly by the front windows was a special treat. Often times we could spot monkeys playing in the trees. Nature lovers rejoice!
Food in Penang is delicious, inexpensive and abundant. There’s countless markets, shops, restaurants, hawker stalls, street vendors and more with varied authentic styles just a quick jaunt away by Grab or bus.
This was truly an outstanding sit and we can’t wait to be invited back, as this one is definitely a must do. Junnie and Terry made us feel at home, which is a godsend when you’ve been full-time traveling and pet/house sitting like we’ve been. Thank you for everything! See you again soon!

A lovely house-sit! Claire and Rod's home is a beautiful Cotswold house complete with three enchanting cat companions. We had such a nice time here over New Year. The house is very warm and comfortable, with a lovely kitchen. The Aga is bliss to cook on and also keeps the house warm. In the evening we lit the open fire in the sitting room as well and Tom, the elder cat, adores lying right in front of it and how he doesn't ignite is a mystery, as he gets so hot to the touch! All three cats were very sweet and entertaining and Tom has the loudest, happiest purr when he's being stroked. Tom and Bobby took to us immediately, whereas Bessie skulked around like a little black ninja for the first couple of days, before deciding that actually, yes, we were ok and she was missing out on the attention the other two were getting. Although we didn't meet, communication with Claire was great before, during and after the sit and their next door neighbour, from whom we got and left the keys, is a very sweet old lady. We did a couple of great walks nearby and also visited Winchcombe Pottery (and purchased a couple of items!) but the house lends itself to long, lazy mornings and cosy evenings and we came home refreshed and re-charged. Can highly recommend this sit!

Review

My time at Betty and Dave's, looking after their adorable beagles Ruby and Beau, was truly enjoyable. These two furry pals each have their own unique personalities, with Ruby being quite independent, yet always by your side in the kitchen, hoping for a tasty treat to accidentally fall off the counter. Beau is akin to a little more care, charmingly cute and occasionally seeking more outside time. There are moments when he may benefit from a helping hand onto the bed or couch, although he manages just fine most of the time. They're attuned to their routine and make it clear when they have specific needs beyond their usual schedule. Keep in mind, if you're planning an extensive sightseeing trip in Portland, the dogs' well-established routine might require a bit more of your time and attention. However, for locals or those looking for a relaxed experience, it's the perfect way to soak in the charm of the area and connect with friendly neighbors. I genuinely loved my stay at their home and caring for these wonderful companions.

One of the highlights for me was coming back home after an errand and witnessing the genuine excitement from both of them upon my return.
I would gladly sit for Betty & Dave again!

Housesitting for Sian was wonderful. Her home is cozy and organized, and her cat Walter is incredibly sweet. Sian provided clear instructions which made everything easy. I'd happily housesit for her and Walter again!

We very much enjoyed our time caring for Charlie and Georgie's lovely home, and, of course, fell in love with Margaux, their adorable 6-month-old Border Terrier, who loves nothing more than to be loved and to meet and greet everyone and every dog she meets. If you're a true dog lover like we are, you'll no doubt love caring for Margaux as well, as she's got the sweetest temperament and loves to play in the garden, go for walks, etc.

And there are a lot of great walks in and around Yattendon and the surrounding area, including a lovely river walk in nearby Pangbourne that Margaux enjoyed as well, getting to swim in the Thames on a hot summer's day, and, well, meeting and greeting a whole bunch of people and dogs en route!

All to say, that if you have the opportunity to housesit for Charlie and Georgie, we'd definitely recommend you're doing so. Throughout the two-week sit, Georgie was always readily available and super-responsive to our reaching out to her regarding unanticipated maintenance items, etc. And Charlie and Georgie are a lovely couple of warmhearted, down-to-earth folk, whom we very much enjoyed meeting and spending time with, and likewise getting to meet their friendly and funny three-year-old son, who, like Margaux, likes to meet new people. Also, Georgie very kindly offered the use of their well-appointed Airbnb cottage for the couple of days between the close of their housesit and our upcoming one, so it was nice to spend that time relaxing between housesits while still getting to enjoy being on their beautiful property, and being able, for Margaux's sake, to overlap as a means for her to transition back to her own folk while having some time to process that we'd be moving on.
