Carol is friendly, cheerful and self-sufficient. She took excellent, loving care of our 15 year old cat, who needed daily meds, and lots of attention. Carol always responded quickly to our inquiries about mail, deliveries, appointments, etc. during our 5 week road trip. We highly recommend her.

Edith is an animal whisperer, a person who naturally makes connection with non-human beings, who meets them with an openness and commitment to getting to know them that seems born not only of duty--tho that is there too as she is very serious about this work of caring for them--but also of a pure pleasure in knowing them. It was clear that Edith came to know and love and care for our 6 chickens, 1 bunny, and two gerbils, in the same way that we do. She really *enjoyed* getting to know them, and they were obviously very comfortable with her very quickly. It was evident in her texts about them, in her photos and videos of them, and in her thoughtful questions about them. She was attentive to whether they were eating well and to all their little habits and likes and dislikes. It was like getting texts and emails from myself. I felt absolutely convinced almost immediately that they were in the best hands humanly possible, and that I could really completely relax and sink into my trip.

Right before we left one of the chickens developed and eye problem and needed ointment in both eyes, and it is NOT easy to put ointment in a chickens' eye. But Edith did it! There was some physical labor involved in dealing with the chickens' food and water and even with having to keep an eye out for hawks--all of which Edith did. She listened when I told her about how the chicken's will alert her to the presence of a predator and was able to catch it when it happened and to round up all the chickens and put them in their pen or coop. Again--NOT easy!

I loved getting Edith's daily observations and reflections and her end-of-day "all is well in Ancram" messages. So reassuring and also just very very lovely. And we were very touched by her thoughtful gift of a beautiful edible nasturtium plant for our deck! We know our animals felt deeply cared for while we were away and that is worth so much. We are very grateful to have found Edith, or to have been found by Edith, and hope to see her again before long.
