We stayed in Lindsey's home for a little over 3 weeks. The house is conveniently located near grocery stores, restaurants and the beach. The home itself has ample space and amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, including a dedicated workspace, large kitchen with mod-cons and a classic front porch. Lindsey kindly offered us two beach cruisers, which came in handy to explore the island and do our groceries. Onyx and Zoe are two sweet girls, who keep a keen eye on your movements and generally just love being around you. We connected with the dogs immediately and formed a great bond during the sit. Onyx is gentle, calm on walks, loves food time and is definitely the boss. Zoe shadows Onyx throughout the day, unless she comes in for a few cuddles with you, which we were luck to get plenty of. Zoe loves her big sister more than anything, even more than food time! Zoe has a lot of energy and will easily be triggered by dogs or people on the footpath outside the house. While the barking was disruptive when we were in meetings, we were able to manage it by asking her to go into her crate. Our primary concern with this sit was Zoe's erratic behaviour outside of the house, specifically when on walks with Onyx. Prior to the sit Lindsey assured us that Zoe's behaviour could be managed by treats or walking to the other side of the street. Despite following this advice thoroughly, as well as using our own experience with reactive large dogs, Zoe would pull, lunge and bark aggressively. We found this distressing. We communicated specific incidents with Lindsey who then promptly advised us to walk Zoe without Onyx. When walked by herself, she seemed significantly less tense but it was clear she missed Onyx. It proved difficult to get her out of the house without Onyx and when we walked just Onyx, Zoe became very upset. Ultimately, to manage Zoe's behaviour, we walked both dogs during slow-foot traffic hours and attempted to avoid people and dogs entirely. We recommend future sitters to always be vigilant on walks, work with Zoe on walking by herself and if she refuses, walk both dogs cautiously by avoiding people and dogs, even if on the other side of the street.
